But, I make a point, and your response is that I "don't read attentively."
If you read attentively & try to understand what I said before, you wouldn't tell me what you said. I tell you right here, answer your post about "you, at times, seem to take others' tastes a little harder" that  I don't & you still argue about it. What, you think I don't know me, what I post?

I'm not saying it's a bad thing to disagree with others' tastes.
I didn't really say it's not bad thing to disagree - naturally it isn't. I said it's not bad thing to ask why poster A dislikes song B, that they don't just say they don't like it but bring details & give full explanation. As I said, I'm curious. & again, people everywhere in the Internet - Smiley, PS, Youtube etc. - show shock, amazement, surprise at smb. saying they don't like their favorite song. "Wow, I never thought I'd see someone not liking [song title]" - posts like this everywhere. Then people ask why they don't like that song. So, it isn't just me who asks for explanation.

but you, at times, seem to take others' opinions / tastes a little harder.
You're wrong. If you don't read attentively it's your fault, not mine.
Read the above but it's really repetition.

That's what I'm talking about.  Like I said, it could be a language barrier issue.  But, I make a point, and your response is that I "don't read attentively."

Yep. Sometimes RR's posts come across as needlessly harsh and tactless. I am inclined to believe  it is a language barrier issue.

I knew you'd agree with it. So it's bad thing to ask people why they dislike, in this case, "Maxwell"? Read the previous detailed posts, I explained everything.

I did not say not vote against "Maxwell" or sth. I merely try to understand, you know, why the dislike towards it. So it's still fun PLUS questions.

The final Beatles album (though Let It Be, recorded months earlier, would be  released in 1970).

Quote
Abbey Road is the eleventh studio album by English rock band the Beatles, released on 26 September 1969 by Apple Records. The recording sessions for the album were the last in which all four Beatles participated. Although Let It Be was the final album that the Beatles completed before the band's dissolution in April 1970, most of the album had been recorded before the Abbey Road sessions began.[1] A double A-side single from the album, "Something"/"Come Together", released in October, topped the Billboard chart in the US.
Abbey Road is a rock album[2] that incorporates genres such as blues, pop, and progressive rock,[3] and it makes prominent use of the Moog synthesizer and the Leslie speaker. Side two contains a medley of song fragments edited together to form a single piece. The album was recorded amid a more enjoyable atmosphere than the Get Back/Let It Be sessions earlier in the year, but there were still frequent disagreements within the band, particularly over Paul McCartney's song "Maxwell's Silver Hammer". John Lennon had privately left the group by the time the album was released and McCartney publicly quit the following year. A 16-minute medley of several short songs comprise the majority of side two, closing with the lyric "and in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make".

9 votes spread across 4 songs.

Her Majesty had enough to say that it fot her voted out first!

Vote off the song you like THE LEAST.

Tally on November 19

Come Together
Something
Maxwell's Silver Hammer
Oh! Darling
Octopus's Garden
I Want You (She's So Heavy)
Here Comes the Sun
Because
You Never Give Me Your Money
Sun King
Mean Mr. Mustard
Polythene Pam
She Came In Through the Bathroom Window
Golden Slumbers
Carry That Weight
The End

Round#1 Her Majesty November 17

My second vote is going to go for CLANG CLANG Maxwell's Silver Hammer. It's the song that pushed John into leaving the Beatles for good.

Discussion is good. Lets just be more mindful of how we express ourselves to one another. I know of 3 people who stopped playing the game because they felt like people were taking things to personally and it was sucking the fun from the thread.

OK, I get that you want an explanation as to why people are voting off Maxwell early in the Abbey Road Round, but when I provide the explanation as to why I think it's one of the weaker tracks, it doesn't seem to be good enough.  So, why not just admit that it's a difference of opinion / taste, and move on?

I'm with Pixletwin, it's a game.

Since Her Majesty was just booted from her throne,

I'm putting Maxwell's Silver Hammer back on the work bench.   It's an OK Paul song, even if the verses sound very similar to When I'm 64.  It was almost like Paul was tired of being the cute one, so he wrote a cute song with sinister lyrics.  I find that pretty funny actually, but IMO, it doesn't measure up to the remaining 15 tracks.

What you talk about? Said nothing like that. I got what you said, after your explanation I said "I too like energy but I like nice fun songs too. I see songs as the whole - "Maxwell" differs than "When I'm 64".". It doesn't translate "It doesn't seem to be good enough". I just replied back my view in reply to yours. That's it.

I did not insult anybody in any Survivor game. I just ask questions why they dislike this song & that song etc. If those 3 people really felt insulted by such little thing, well...

Maxwell was recorded August 6. It was the last Beatles session John attended for a song that wasn't his. It was the most expensive recording the Beatles ever made which angered Lennon further. Ringo said that sessions for the song were the most horrible sessions he ever worked on. George couldn't stand the song either. The recording of this song was a microcosm of every COMPLEX reason the Beatles split. It was the figurative cornerstone that collapsed over their heads as a group. No citations needed. Do some research. Smiley

I think that was references in the Beatles Anthology Book, which is a must own for any Beatles fan IMO.

Thanks for the info. But, I'd like to hear the real reason you vote "Maxwell" against. Never mind the break-up, why to you it's the lesser track?

Yes, I see. The question is, why it is your "least favorite"? The real, musical, reason, not the break-up. To quote KDS, "that's what I'm talking about" - despite repeating many times that I'm very interested in details, that people explain every single choice instead of merely posting song title, nobody reads what I said word-by-word carefully. Instead get the answers like "cos it's my "least favorite" which isn't really answer.

It works really well within the context of the medley, but it's not something I seek out on its own. The other fragments I find more interesting. It borrows too much from You Never Give Me Your Money for me to vote off another song in its place...
