After a looooong break, I thought I would ressurect the old Survivor threads, but this time touching on The Beatles.

Quote
Please Please Me is the debut studio album by the English rock band the Beatles. Parlophone rush-released the album on 22 March 1963 in the United Kingdom to capitalise on the success of the singles "Please Please Me" (No. 1 on most lists though only No. 2 on Record Retailer)[6] and "Love Me Do" (No. 17).

Of the album's 14 songs, eight were written by Lennon–McCartney (originally credited "McCartney–Lennon"), early evidence of what Rolling Stone later called "[their invention of] the idea of the self-contained rock band, writing their own hits and playing their own instruments."[7] In 2012, Please Please Me was voted 39th on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time."[8]

As usual vote for your least favorite track. The track with the most votes gets voted off.

Tally on July 23rd.

I Saw Her Standing There
Misery
Anna
Chains
Boys
Ask Me Why
Please Please Me
Love Me Do
P.S. I Love You
Baby It's You
Do You Want To Know A Secret
A Taste of Honey
There's A Place
Twist and Shout

I love that this album (with a few exceptions) was recorded in one day. Even for the time, that must've been a rare occurrence. It's in my top five albums from The Beatles. Still, the nature of the game is to pick your LEAST favorite track and, for me, that is "Chains".

Your turn folks! Let's get this game back up on it's beatley feet!  3D

(sorry mods. I tried to create this in the Polls section, but the site wouldn't let me)

As one of the other songs on this album says, "I can't conceive of any more...misery"

Misery is my pick.

This is terrific! I enjoyed the BBs survivor game. Smb. said smwr about the album's cover being foreseeing - from right John's death, then George's. Funny what you read. police

This is tough as I dislike equally "Anna", "Ask Me Why", "Misery" & "Baby It's You".  But the latter wins - too slow & boring.
"Baby It's You".

Missed out on Beach Boys Survivor, so looking forward to this. The White Album should be fun.

Nice to see a return of the Survivor's format.

Gonna go with Boys.... Probably won't be the last time I'll choose a Ringo song as the first to go

Would like to add that this thread is bringing back some amusing memories.
Being in the US, Capitol in its wisdom(?) put out different Beatles albums than in the UK. As a almost 7 year old (March 1964 birthday) remember my sister bringing home the Meet the Beatles lp. I absolutely loved the cover and spent who knows how long looking it over as the album played on the hi fi.

A little while later my sister got another album, Introducing the Beatles, put out by VeeJay. The first reaction to seeing that album cover was - Ycch! The picture of it online doesn't do justice to the ugliness of it. The poor guys looked positively sickly. Anyway, that album had songs that were on the UKs Please Please Me album. Perhaps it's because I heard these songs after Meet the Beatles, most of them are underwhelming in comparison.

This is not easy and I'm not sure I can even honestly participate given the fact that every Beatles song has been a crucial part of my life since I was about four years old.

But for now I'll say: A Taste of Honey

This first week there was a lot of different opnions. But in the end, that Taste of Honey just wasn't sweet enough.

As usual vote for your least favorite track. The track with the most votes gets voted off.

Tally on July 26th.

I Saw Her Standing There

Love Me Do

Baby It's You
Do You Want To Know A Secret
There's A Place
Twist and Shout

Round#1 A Taste of Honey July 23

My pick for the second round is still Chains.

Vote! Vote! Vote!

Tough call between Boys and Do You Want To Know A Secret... I enjoy nearly every Beatles song immensely, so it's not going to get any easier from here.

I'm surprised to see that go, it's one of the more complex musical songs on there.
I thought 'chains' would have been the obvious boot.
