In the land Downunder ... don't panic:

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/arts/beach-boys-fans-get-every-reason-to-smile/story-e6frg8n6-1226131274583

The word I have is that the Oz release is set for Monday 31 October ... 36 hours before the seppos ... however Red Eye in Sydney is listing the Australian release date as Friday, 28 October.

Also keep the senses prepped for a Sydney get together in December to celebrate 50 years.

"Seppos"??  Smiley

Red Eye are listing it for over $40 I believe. The only Australian supplier I could find is CD Wow's Australian music and games site which lists the 2 cd set for $18.95 AUD

Excuse my ignorance but what Sydney get together?

Now I have a quandary as I pre-ordered with Sainsburys months ago for the same price, but if I switch to Amazon presumably I'll be bottom of the list?

It's hard to believe that The SMiLE Sessions will be released after 45 years, and will still be ahead of Northern Rail getting the Ribblesdale service to run on time.

Yeah but what do I do now? Cancel my Amazon order on the 2 CD set and go with JB Hi-fi since they are about the same price?

Mine is $170 USD through Amazon US. I may just wait a week (for it to ship). After all I'm sure it won't be in the stores at Miranda/Caringbah (in Sydney) near where I live on the 28th...although I may check if I'm in the area.

Just checked my estimated shipping date; November 7-14....yet I was one of the first ones to order (as I got the $110 deal) - though I didn't do 2 day shipping....perhaps it will still arrive early Undecided

John, The 5 CD set is down to about $138 at Amazon, so if you keep your order, you will see a refund from them, the difference of the higher price (your original order) and the lower price at shipping.

Been listening to SOT 17, do you guys know if there'll be a way to reconstruct Wind Chimes with the celesta/harpsichord backing track (not the marimba version)?

As a matter of fact I think it sounds  much better. Or maybe it is what they call Wind Chimes version 2 (cd 4 tk 5)?

You know, after reading some Facebook responses to the recent posting of a SMiLE tape boxes photo, I'm thinking this set is going to come as a shock to some fans. More than one poster commented that he thought "Brian destroyed all the SMiLE tapes" so he didn't understand what this photo was. Another suggested that, while Brian destroyed the tapes themselves, the boxes were saved! One person asked if the original "Fire" sessions still existed. If these folks actually get their hands (and ears) on the box set, their minds are going to be blown!

Part of me wishes I was so ignorant of this history that I had no idea any of these sessions survived, so I could take all five discs in as something newly unearthed.
