Okay. This is weird. I cannot BELIEVE this. My friend HAS A COPY!!! I have the first disc of the five CD set!!! I am not lying. I am listening to Do You Like Worms right now. This is the best day of my life. I am drunk right now, but I am trying to sober up to listen to this. This is so weird. I was planning on waiting until November 1st, but he walked into the bathroom and showed me it. I thought it was a bootleg, but it's real. SMiLE is here!!!!

Just out of interest, what's the 'label' on the disc ?

Right on the top it says "The Beach Boys, The SMiLE Sessions." Under that, it has the album cover with "Full Dimensional Sound." Under the artwork it says, "Drawing by Frank J. Holmes." And right at the bottom it says "Sampler." It has the official Capitol logo on the back and copyrights and everything. i'm not trying to spoil it for anyone. This just fell into my lap out of nowhere. it's just surprising.

*doesn't mind being spoiled in the form of information or audio files*

I mean... wat.

= )

I am not on my own computer right now, so I am not in a state to do so. I also feel kind of bad about doing it. But if you PM me I would get back to you tomorrow for sure. I'm still listening through it right now, but tomorrow for sure.

I would strongly advise against that unless you want to get your friend into serious sh*t*, as a "sampler" would undoubtedly be watermarked as well. If it was CD1 from the box, not as risky... even so, saying this on a board we know is monitored by BRI and BriMel isn't very bright, drunk or not.

[* - which he could be already, seeing as you've named the university he's at and that he works at the radio station there]

Definitely. I don't want to do anything stupid, I'm just more excited and surprised than anything. Thanks for advice. And for those worried about fly ins, etc., *spoiler* the sound quality is great!

Troof @ Andrew. I'm sure the proper 5 disc set will be out there soon enough (although I've been saying that for three days now  Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry ), so yeah.

TO ALL: With it being a sampler and my friend working at the radio station, I don't want to get him or myself into any kind of trouble, so I won't be PMing anybody just to be safe. Be patient. I was planning on being patient until November 1st, and it just flippin' fell out of the sky into my lap. I am not worthy to give this to anybody. My first SMiLE experience may have changed, but I don't want to ruin anyone else's.

I think if you guys are worried about getting the guy in trouble you should edit the name of the university out of your posts.

don't forget the fact that the initial post was endlessly endlessly quoted.

That's true. I don't know what to do about that. Let's just let everyone know that this was an isolated incident. I am NOT showing this to anybody or leaking it or PMing it or anything of the sort.

if you go to all your posts where the quote is in you can edit it out of those too. AGD and runnersdialzero could do the same if they wanted.

Done.

Regardless, doubt the d00d would be in trouble simply for having it and giving one copy to a friend who didn't share with anyone. Should be fine Smiley

how much of this slightly earlier international release is a timezone thing? I live on America's east coast and it's currently 5:17 AM, Ocober 23rd. Wait time/date is it right now in Australia?

time zones are weird. your Sunday's almost over and mine's barely begun. and the time zone I'm in right now is called "Eastern Daylight Time".

but if I have this right, this means, you'll have the box by the evening of October 27th, Eastern Daylight Time. and I have to wait all the way until the morning or afternoon of November 1st!!

Just got some info that Dom has been dropped from any further activity to do with the Smile release. Can anyone corroborate this? Is the essay still in the set?

Well, I don't want to stir things up, but I did notice that he had originally done an interview for Icon Fetch which was announced but then mysteriously disappeared from the lineup.

Do Australian turntables play anti-clockwise?

Not only do they play anti-clockwise, they also run faster because of the 240V AC power supply instead of 110V AC
