As for Brian's "Mickey Mouse" album, and forthcoming Beach Boys reunion recordings, let's boycott them, and send Brian & The Beach Boys a message about the power of the consumer. They've milked the myth of "Smile" for too long, and played far too many games with the fans. On all the previous occasions (in the past four decades) when "Smile" was supposed to be released, and wasn't, fans soon forgave The Beach Boys, then it was business as usual for Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys, and their careers suffered little or no damage from Smile's non-release. Let's show this dysfunctional family of musicians that this time, their failure to come through with "Smile" will be absolutely unforgivable, and that we could, overnight, reduce these musicians to the "fallen idol" status of Peter Frampton, Donovan, Twisted Sister.

Smile since day one has been a marketable product [Derek Taylor, anyone?]. Why would any of them cease using it in this way? They're in the music BUSINESS. Come two and three quarters of an inch closer so I can Murry beer breath you to death.

If I were your average guest, and visited this site when Phil Cohen's tyrade was in full swing, I would walk away believing that the SMiLE boxset project is troubled, that Capitol is screwing with us fans, and that the latest releases of SMiLE tracks were mixed in protools from mp3 files.

Fortunately I know that there is no direct evidence to support Phil's idea that the SMiLE boxset is surely in trouble. I also realize, through two seconds of logical thought, that Capitol execs aren't sitting in the boardroom scheming up ways to NOT make money. And I also know that the recent SMiLE mixes were mixed from the original tape.

Phil may be right that SMiLE won't come out this year, or anytime after - there was always this chance - Most people here are just pissed off at Phil's blatant disregard for the tolerance level, in regards to monotonous posts and disinformation, of the fellow posters here.
