Would it be too much to ask why members other than Steve Mayo have chosen to remove scans and other media from this board? Are they going to the other board for a reason other than what this appears to be about?
For members - fans here - with no skin in this or any other game, just my own two cents, that's a pretty crappy thing to do if it was done out of spite, unless the links simply expired and the URL's on the photo hosts changed and haven't been updated.
Since I was mentioned previously: Think of them as pieces loaned to a museum exhibition. I don't like the direction the current Board of Directors, so to speak, has taken the SS board, and I've decided to remove my mueseum exhibits The pictures I removed are mine only. Ownership of them was never deeded to this board( Hey Jude), and as such, I've taken them back. Whether you think what I've done is immaterial. Images of my collection belong to me. You want the images,HEY, buy the collection. Then you can decide to post them yourself, or not Coming from someone who came back on this board to post and call me "guitarstool" and accuse me of twisting the facts, I'm not surprised. Enjoy curating your museum. But it's all about the music, right? Have fun with the liars, they're guaranteed to tell you what you want to hear. That is a heartwarming thread to read, but considering who is behind the whole thing, I'm not surprised at all. At least there is a place to go if anyone wants to hear dirt about Brian and Melinda's kids, the source is holding court. Thanks for posting that thread, very educational. I had not seen that until now. This is the post tree in question, just to settle this as far as the discussion here. It definitely appears that Will used the term "SS haters", and if there are issues with formatting and the board's quote function, address it to the people who run that board. I mean those who actually run the board as in mods and admins, not the "higher ups". Signed, Your friendly neighborhood Super Moderator, wearing my mod gear as I type this message. >>>>>> Y'know what this place needs ? Who you callin' a Jarhead? I don't know who you are (that's what name-changing can do) but maybe you were here when the "in" thing was to use the word Jarhead in one's alias. (Not everyone did it, of course.) And now the same thing's happening with the word Douche. So you see, there's nothing personal in my remark. John, Ya gotta spend more time in the Sandbox! Bullets came up with the idea, others followed. Deadpool was even funnier, with his hitlist. Hitlists are also popular recently. Everybody is getting one. Sure Rei is amused by your mention. I saw someone confusing Rei the other day, saying there are other Rei posters. So, where does that leave the Curb Your Enthusiasm guy? They just want to make your life a mess. Hi, Will. Good to see a familiar face these days. :=) My social life is already a mess, so if it's me they're after they're wasting their time, hahaha. As for the Sandbox, I probably spend too much time there already. Either posting in the "Cats" topic or casting a baleful eye at the "Moderation" thread. And... there's a new BB palindrome brewing. So it's "all systems go" over there right now. The Sandbox rocks! Hey John, I'm coming here everyday. Posting, not so much. My last two addressed to you actually. I'm just hanging on the fringes of Smiley waiting for things to cool down. That doesn't look to be any time soon. Nearly three years since I joined, all that seems to be left is anger and hostility. How can you talk about music (the reason I came here in the first place) with all the fist swinging going on? We used to play fun games like Survivor, boy, those days are over. There is too much duck-n-cover. Too many hit lists. I don't do well in that kind of environment. Research? Another of my favorite pastimes, hard to do with most of historians out the door, some eliminating the past as they leave. Have you checked Steve Mayo's post history lately? It's gone. All those wonderful magazine articles and pictures going back to the 60's, poof. Who else has or will do the same thing? They read the same stuff I do. The scariest thing I've read here since Andrew's ban is from the Chairman of the Board himself. That he could and would brush everything away, close down Smiley with the wave of a hand. That would include all my hard work sharing my research. As for the Sandbox, after over a month of reading the arguments, I probably should not go there. I did this morning to read Josh's goodbye note. Others don't even leave notes, they just leave. Most of my friends have moved on. And I don't mean to PSF. Many too many have stopped posting anywhere. Like Ray said all those years ago, "Where Have All the Good Times Gone?" I saw your post here the other day about me rushing through Welcomes at PSF. Everybody is welcome there. It's fresh starts all around. I don't see that post anymore, another victim of the delete button so popular in this section. That might have been the one with your invitation to come to the Oops thread to discuss things calmly. If so, I see why you would remove that. Or did a mod do that for you? That kind of order doesn't seem to be possible right now. I must sound down, but I am not out. As I said before, I will still post here - in the General Music and Music Makers sections. See you here in the Oops and there. -Will https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6uBHxCwdek

Just an update...we filed the appeal, process takes about a week. Looking for another place to live...only thing that is making it hard is it's harder with an eviction on record.
Just do like guitarstool and twist the truth. Tell your potential landlords you've been living with family for the last few years, so you don't have a record...

Thanxx for the heads-up Carrie!! I ordered one of each; always happy to get something from you and Dave. ( hope I didn't already have David and Friends Live hidden in one of these stacks...)
Looking for a pic for LD I found this old handbill ( all that would fit on the scanner in any case... )

Gotta love it:
"The record (probably) has stock labels" and "Guaranteed original beige United Artists label with brown logo".
and,
"The album in guaranteed to come with its original insert/lyrics sheet" but superimposed on a picture of the original insert/lyrics sheet, "This is the insert we believe you will find inside".
YEah, that's kinda the problem with this seller. They make alot of claims, and then, back off elsewhere; but if you call them on it, they just try and claim that they are primo sellers with this fantastic knowledge and rep and there's no way in the world they could ever be wrong about anything with any of their listings. I called them on a few listings some years back and got stonewalled and hence, never bid. I know that Frank Daniels( Beatles books among other credits) has also run into their deadheaded claims with similar results. They're funny....

Well actually, if you check the bids page, you'll see that it says the reserve price HAS been met. You obviously want this one, eh? You'll get no competition from me; I've got a couple of sealed ones on the shelf, tho they're not promos. Seller tends to be a chump. He's NEVER ever wrong about any of his listings, tho I ( and others) have repeatedly pointed to errors in his previous listings. Fortunately for you, this one appears to be accurate Hope you win

Thanks Custom Machine! I consulted Brad Elliott's Surf's Up! which lists July, but perhaps there was a later correction. In either case, releasing the promo tape about seven months before the album certainly did not help sales of the LP and, unfortunately, did very little for the the lead-off single.
I checked Bellagio And Elliott's book, but they ( obviously) both differ from May 72. bolstering CM's proof is this review in the June 10 Billboard: http://tinyurl.com/h5pqhkfTho I'm wondering if they really checked it out based on the Ginger reference

The letter from United Artists states, "There will be an album shortly, while the single, "Now That Everything's Been Said," from the LP is enclosed." That lead-off single was released October 20, 1971, while the album did not come out until July 1972. The tape was reportedly recorded early in the morning of October 9, 1971; begging the question as to exactly when was the tape and its contents sent to radio stations. My guess would be late October or early November 1971 -- quite a bit of time before the album was released.
Thanks for posting the Spring album press kit. I hadn't seen one of those.
I've just GOT to learn reading comprehension ! Do you think there's a special release version of NTEBS out there that none of us has seen? Or would it have been a standard Promo 45? possibly, but unlikely, a Stock 45? as both their 45s were released prior to the LP release, with seemingly little interest, should UA have released a third single after the LP release to help promote it? I think there might be pics of the complete press kit posted somewhere on this board, but I don't have any idea how to find them.
