The basic track is pre-Caribou sessions. Dennis worked on the track for years, edited it, added to it, erased bits, but yeah the POB version has the basic element of that original '73/'74 track in it. Carl (guitar), Ricky (drums) and Dennis (piano) are on it, Ed Carter on bass.

It's "two waves...". I think. Carl sings it like "two", not "to". Besides, makes more sense with the "both" coming up.

If you google the lyrics though, most sites have it as "to".

Hmm.. didn't know it was based on a poem, but: there's no literal mention of "two ways" in that poem (only "two roads").
And even if there was - it'd be entirely possible that they 'cleverly' changed that into "waves" for the lyrics of a BBs song.
