It will sell a lot if Capitol actually give it a fair shake and it's put in stores all around the world..

AND it doesn't sell out the second it hits number 1 on amazon like BWRG

I'd certainly like … an explnataion or clarification as to the opening vocals for CWTL (if indeed that's where they belong) which appear solely on the "Japanese" boot from 1989.

One of my fave BBs moments and one I've always liked to assume is actually a SMiLE snippet, despite the many claims otherwise relating to CWTL.

If it's being put together rightly then let them take their time to do it rightly. I read your posts marveling at this huge oversight here. How many people are working on this release? The actual music - what matters? Isn't it only a few... Mark Linett...? It's not a laboratory of scientists, guys. Why should their lives be ruined and put to work 23hrs per day so that you can have something a little faster than you would have and months later forget why that immediacy really mattered anyway. Mark Linett et al, you have my permission to slack off and take your time on this release. Be cool, be yourselves, and check out some of the cool heads here who have the knowledge to set you straight.

An excellent post, ghost. Wish I knew where you were coming from!!!   LOL

All of a sudden I feel bad for ever doubting you. That's about the best post I've seen in this horrible thread.

I'm totally with you guys, who do all the jerks in this thread think they are? I mean please, you expect Capitol to just TELL you when you can give them money? Do you really expect it to be that easy? Back in my day products were never sold, and if they were you got down on your knees and thanked the lord that you were given the privilege of paying money to a company. When I was a whipersnaper if you wanted to know a release date you had to walk 10 miles, uphill, in the snow, now all you ungrateful kids think that press releases just grow on trees! Bah Humbug!

Gimmie a break.

Wasn't there a legal thing that was delaying the release? Is it possible that through coordination between record companies that it was decided to release the Disney album first, so that both records could be released this year and be successful? Personally, I think the market could use a little Beach Boy and Brian Wilson saturation.

1.When the cows come home.
2.When the farmers return to Hialeah,Florida.
3.When Godot arrives.
4.When Hell freezes over.
5.When Capitol Records releases "The Beach Boys-The Smile Sessions"

(Footnote to the above: Hell DID freeze over......once, for the rock group "The Eagles", so there's still a small chance that the "Smile" box MIGHT be released.)

Whether The Smile Sessions come out in Oct, Nov, Dec or next year, it isn't really that big of a deal to me. I say this as a huge SMiLE dork. I never thought i'd see the day when these songs would finally be cleaned up and put in a nice little (or big) package. This is the most anticipated entertainment related release of my life, so waiting a little while for it won't kill me.

Also, the best thing to happen to this board in the last few days: the increased presence of ghost + the joyous absence of that Andrew Doe character. Good stuff.

There hasn't been a farm or farmer in Hialeah since the mid-1970's. The cows were replaced by Cuban & Colombian immigrants.

I never could make that much of the oft-quoted 'modular method of writing songs' etc.

I'm glad you said that.  That quote jumped out at me in the Mojo article and gave me pause.  The idea that his working method was to first record these fragments and then "write" or assemble them into complete songs seems so obviously wrong and does a disservice to the material.  I mean, clearly he had the song first right? Even  take 1 of "Good Vibrations", the modular granddaddy of them all, isn't THAT different than the 45.

The Mojo article and interview is so poor. It's like the Larry King interview approach..

I don't get it? We've been told directly that it will come out in October's window, and that it's had legal trouble. Why is everybody ignoring this important information? Until November passes, there really is no cause for alarm.

I predict next week is when we'll get some kind of confirmation from the Big Knobs at Capitol regarding release date/track listing etc.
