I just cancelled mine jonsuissy.  Logged on to the Sainsburys entertainment site first, clicked on the account link at the top right of the page, then went to view the unfulfilled order, on which there is a very simple (but small) cancel button.

Hope that helps.

Thanks John, that did help (I had to click a small "view" icon which brought up the cancel option)
I was dreading telling Mrs jonsuissy we had two new Beach Boys Box Sets

Jon

Would have been nothing wrong with one each, it'd show how much you love her!

Why did the band suddenly pretend that SIP exists by allowing a live version of Summer In Paradise on MiC?

The live version is much, *much* better than the studio one, and it gives Bruce a little bit of a vocal spotlight he otherwise wouldn't have.

Spot on. Agree with this all the way.  Kudos to which ever band member(s) re-arranged that.

Ahhhh, £66... that's more like it....

I kinda don't want it, but I obviously REALLY WANT TO HEAR ALL THE NEW COOL THINGS. Bah.

Dammit, ordered. But no-one will ever help me move house again.

As an aside, does anyone know whether the newfangled Amazon Autorip thing applies to this? Apparently pre-ordered stuff can go up early on it...

Is MYke saying 'f*** you' to all of us?

No, only to you, Auldsyrfahdood and maybe SMiLEBrian. Grin

They should have included the European studio version though, that one is shortened for its own good, and the 12 string guitar makes it sound really pleasant. If the live versions I know reflect the American studio version, I'm not surprised most people hate that song.

Ordered from Amazon UK thanks to the big price drop.

In the US, we don't have to pay the VAT, so £66.11 ($100 US) goes down to £55.08 ($84 US).
We'd have to wait longer to get it, but I don't see Amazon US going down to $84.

I've pre-ordered from Amazon UK. I'm hoping that my local independent retailer (Rise in Bristol) will get it at a comparable price. I don't mind paying more for buying stuff from a local indie, but we'll see how much 'more' is first before i cancel my amazon order.

For anyone interested, Rise do a 10% discount if you pre-order anything online. So even if Rise list the box at, say, £80, that'd be a £72 pre-order and i don't mind paying an extra £6 to get it on the day of release and support my local dudes (and tax revenue).

As for amazon not paying UK tax, i don't like it, but i can't blame them for exploiting a loophole created by the government. It is up to the government to close that loophole, and last time i checked the govt like to publicise it but have done foda all about closing it. Amazon aren't the bad guys (yet) in this one (although they are when it comes to bookselling, but that's another story).

There's no autorip logo on the page -- they put a logo on albums to which it applies -- though obviously that might change in the next few weeks.
The couple of times I've pre-ordered CDs which get autoripped, the tracks have appeared at midnight on the day of release...

Don't forget to cancel those Sainsburys orders!

Unless you'd rather shop with a company that pays its taxes like the rest of us.

Ah…

… though I promise I've paid income tax on the money I'l be using to buy the box.  And I'll be paying the VAT.

But now you won't be able to draw your state pension for another year because of all the 'mercans buying from Amazon UK!

My state pension has already been deferred by two years as I understand it. I'm post-baby boomer generation -  we get mis-sold pensions, mis-sold mortgages, mis-sold endowments, mis-sold insurance polices and face having all our health services privatised, yet we pay for the previous generations' pensions, health care etc and the next generations' benefits.

And no doubt the Government will express their displeasure at Amazon's tax avoidance to the company chiefs over a nice dinner somewhere within Westminster. It's enough to make you turn Socialist…!

Miracles sounds like a 20/20-era vocal snippet or something. It's like 20 seconds long and not part of anything I've heard before.

"Why" instrumental is an absolutely beautiful track similar to "That's Why God..." or "Goin' On" in that 6/8 tempo feel.
How/why it doesn't have vocals is mindblowing. The track is awesome w/ tons of crazy Wilson-esque chord changes and maj7s. It's probably my favorite thing so far on the set.
I'm guessing it's from 78 or 79 or so.

I am belatedly going thru all your posts on this and just wanted to say THANKS and WOW!

Love it. Buy pretty much all my vinyl and CDs through them - especially now when bastards amazon.co.uk won't ship with super saver to Norway. Most of the time importcds' prices are better than amazon anyways.

Plumped for the Amazon UK price drop  Smiley

What is the consensus regarding the supposed Sept 2nd release date here?

The live version is the same arrangement as the U.K. studio version.

Am I the only one that's most excited about hearing remastered versions of classic tracks? Surely the versions of tracks on here from the Wild Honey-era and beyond will be remastered, or at least touched up, sounding better than anything else we happen to have. If we aren't going to get any more album remasters, this will be the next best thing.

A track that's simply remastered, rather than a new mix, won't be listed on the back of the box as anything special, obviously. Let's cross our fingers.

So, are the tracks on CD's 3 and 4 like "Little Bird," "Forever," and "Feel Flows" just regular album cuts?
That's seems like an odd use of space. It's sort of an untouched '68 - '78 retrospective, compared to the other discs.

I'm not sure, but you should be.

All "remastered" means is "mastered again". Nothing more. It doesn't have anything to do with tweaking or touching up or sounding better. It literally just means "mastered again". Something was mastered for a release once before, and now it has been again. That's it.

Sometimes remasters are better than previous versions, sometimes they are worse. I have "remasters" that are much better than previous releases, and I also have "remasters" that are significantly worse than anything that came before them. I also have a lot that aren't very different at all. Whether or not something is "remastered" (or *says* it is "remastered") has no inherent bearing on what it sounds like.

Indeed they are, hence why the back of the box says nothing special about them. We just have to cross our fingers that they're cleaned up, rather than simply being the same sound quality tracks we got about ten years ago for most of these songs (on the two-fers/HDCD remasters).

Amazon uk price just took a tumble to £66.11. Lock 'em in!

Incredible!!!

No surprise it's shot up to #30 in the charts.

I canceled my previous order and re-ordered just to make sure I get it for that price

"cleaned up" how? Are you suggesting there is something wrong with the previous issues?

I wouldn't say there is anything  necessarily wrong with them. However, technology has progressed an incredible amount in these 13 years.

No, it hasn't. Which is the point. There are amazing sounding CDs from the early '80s. That isn't to say they *all* sounded great, but the technology existed then.

Differences in sound from release to release are almost never about technology and almost always about 1) the sources used and 2) the tastes of the engineers involved. Technology can play a part, but it is usually pretty subtle compared to the reasons above.
