Cocaine Tapes & City Blues demo.
How'd these demos get the name Cocaine tapes?

I read/saw/heard (don't recall which) somewhere LONG time ago that Brian has stated that he talks out of the side of his mouth so he can hear himself with his 'good ear.'

Green Hornet & Green Acres... Basically green themes.

The Jeffersons (written by Jeff Barry) cracks me up for some reason. Maude, too.
To me, Mike Post's TV show themes were typically interesting.

I have to say you hooked me with that Heavyarm stuff you sent me. I got all his LPs on vinyl now!
Killer! The Gourd is such an incredible poet. His Sundown LP is definitely in my top 10 fave LP's of all time. Bury it with me.
Here's an odd choice for bubble-psyche- a tough Boyce & Hart 45, In Case The Wind Should Blow.
This is one for all you Soft-Pop lovers. Unbelieveably, undeniably phenomenal. Discover.....

Nice response Ian!  :D
Gordon Lightfoot's - The Way I Feel (version 2). Definite psych from a terribly un-hip Canadian. I love him, tho!

I hate the draggy arrangement of Let Your Hair Grow Long, though.
CHECKMATE!
Thanks Surfer Girl for reminding me that I had the record. I'm listening now and the vinyl is totally alive with texture & complexity! Amazing, really.

There's enough decent material so that the die-hard fan can program a 35 minute album out of that mess.
Uh oh, could be trouble!?  Shocked LOOK OUT BELOW!!!
Perhaps a CD single with one bonus track?  Grin

Super fine album, flawed only by the synth-etic production. Great songs. Great melodies. Nice vocals. Nice arrangements. TOO MUCH SYNTHESIZER. Such a great album it pains me to say I can overlook the synthesizers for everything else.

I've never probed too deeply into the Dan's lyrics.
"The Cuervo Gold. The fine Columbian. Makes tonight a wonderful thing."

141  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: Whats your favorite song about heartache? on: January 25, 2006, 12:27:51 PM
I heard it for the first time in years last night. I was forced to listen to FM radio as I was painting my grandmother's basement- It's A Heartache by Bonnie Tyler. Not a favorite at all, hadn't heard it and read this thread. Odd timing.

VGPS, Something Else, Face To Face. I like Lola vs Powerman, & some, but not all of Arthur. Not too familiar with the Kinks mid 70's stuff as a whole.

I watched it when it aired, but gagged most of the way through.
Best feature- Kevin Dunn & his creepy job with Murry. Gave me the boo-boo geebies...

146  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: Favorite Spinal Tap Tune?? on: January 19, 2006, 06:52:46 AM
Does anyone know if the following is true:
back a few years ago, The Folksmen reportedly opened for Tap and got booed off the stage. True? False?
It's genius either way!! Pity I didn't get to ask Harry Shearer 'bout this one.

148  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: Faviorte country on: January 17, 2006, 05:41:49 PM
Merle Haggard amazes me. A few years ago, I checked out a 4CD set from the public library and was suprised that I knew nearly everything on the first 2 discs. I didn't add them all up and I forgot how many hits that guy had. Amazing. Buck Owens & Marty Robbins, too.

I steer clear of new country, but BR549 is pretty stellar. The only thing they did that I didn't care for was a live disc called Coast To Coast. Everything else is SOLID.
