Ian nails it... as always !! I prefer some of the mixes off Aerial Pandemonium Ballet. If you're not talkin' vinyl, get the Eruo-2-fer that has both Pandemonium Shadow Show & Aerial Ballet PLUS Aerial Pandemonium Ballet. Then you win 3 times!!

Watchband all the way! I suspect Love is great when you're all psyched out. My drugged out mailman loved early Pink Floyd. Elevators & Seeds would be 2 other interesting suggestions... but you're already there!
228  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: Did you get any music for Christmas? on: January 02, 2006, 09:51:49 PM
No new music for me. No one knows what to get me! All the 'normal' people in my family are confused by my musical tastes!  Grin
Mom gave me $200 toward the purchase of an iPod! That'll be schweet!  Cool

If there was anyone whom I'd expect to dig... It'd be youz, muh'boyeeee!
Tear it up!
230  Smiley Smile Stuff / 1970's Beach Boys Albums / Re: Carl And The Passions- So Tough on: January 01, 2006, 10:08:08 PM
Yeah. They started to lose their ROCK sound around this time. For me tempo can have a lot to do with how much I like a song.
Idyll... do something with your hair, would ya?!
231  Smiley Smile Stuff / 1970's Beach Boys Albums / Re: The M.I.U. Album on: January 01, 2006, 10:05:29 PM
Alright. It's agreed that this is not the best example of a BB's album.
I can't believe no one has ripped 'Pitter Patter' apart. The other day I listened to this song like 10 times in a row! For a later Beach Boys track, it's got their imprint/stamp all over it! Amazing song. Super fantastic harmonies. More upbeat than most of the songs in their catalog at this point. Songs about rain have a tendancy to be fun and playful in their lyrics anyway.
I'd have to put it high in my best of the 70's chart listing. Songs from Sunflower & Surfs Up prevent it from charting higher.
I love, love, love this song.
232  Smiley Smile Stuff / 1970's Beach Boys Albums / Re: The Beach Boys Love You on: January 01, 2006, 09:56:54 PM
LY always sounds to me like the guys were slacking off with a contractual obligation album. I really tried to like this one.
Yeah. I feel the same way. I feel it's got this 'let's get it over with' kind of attitude. My opinion's already known.
And I don't 'hate' it. Hate is a pretty strong word. I just don't think it's as good as everyone wants to believe that it is.
Peace brotha's & sista's. I don't be hatin'.
233  Smiley Smile Stuff / 1980's Beach Boys Albums / Re: Keepin' The Summer Alive on: January 01, 2006, 09:51:27 PM
I'm a fan of KTSA and I'm not ashamed to admit it!
That's right. Preach on E!

And you don't like Love You? Wow.
That is strange, ain't it. There's only 2 of us who like KTSA better than Love You. We're throwing a KTSA summit party next Friday. You're all invited, but I'm guessing we'll be the only 2 there.  Wink
More beer for me!

San Francisco (With VDP)
Agreed! That one never fails to floor me!
235  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: Neil Diamond on: January 01, 2006, 09:29:05 PM
I'd agree with that very bold statement!  The dude knew how to write a hook- fer damn sure.
236  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: Best A/B side single of the 60's... on: January 01, 2006, 07:57:07 PM
Someday Man / Listen To The Band- both of those should have charted MUCH higher!
Surfin' Bird / King Of The Surf by the Trashmen is a MOTHER as well.
PVS & Words- Nice choice Glick! I'm A Believer/ Steppin Stone ain't too shabby either.
237  Smiley Smile Stuff / Concert Reviews / Re: Mike and Bruce and the Liberty Bowl on: December 31, 2005, 02:10:41 PM
They should have played the Toilet Bowl !  Grin
238  Smiley Smile Stuff / Welcome to the Smiley Smile board / Re: Which theme do you prefer? on: December 31, 2005, 02:11:46 AM
Helioid! Much easier on the eyes. Too much white & brights elsewhere.
239  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Brian Wilson: Solo-Top-5 on: December 30, 2005, 11:26:45 PM
Might hit too close to home, but I'd love to see him do that one live in concert. Every word of it is so fitting. So true, it almost hurts. Glad you like it too, Mr. W.  I think I'll put that on right now.
240  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Remembering Dennis Wilson (1944-1983) on: December 30, 2005, 11:23:40 PM
I just read the People cover again, thought this was odd- ..."ends the act of America's most troubled supergroup."
22 years later Mike is still flogging it with Bruce, only.
241  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Brian Wilson: Solo-Top-5 on: December 30, 2005, 11:10:06 PM
Not necessarily in this order-
Rio Grande
Thank You (there's not a better one that's from deeper in that man's heart- 'crazy beatings by my father'- terribly sad. WOW.)
Don't Let Her Know She's An Angel (too many synths on Sweet Insanity, the flute kills the GIOMH version, but amazing song!)
Lay Down Burden (again, too many synths & programming)
One For the Boys
242  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: Neil Diamond on: December 30, 2005, 09:21:21 PM
Here's the extent of my Diamond stuff-
The Uni LP featuring Caroline & Brother Love's, Hot August Night, Tap Root Manuscript, Moods, Stones, Serenade, Gold  2LP... a few hits CD's.  That's it. I'd like more- but time & lack of loot prevent that. What else to get?? I think you have a pretty good handle on my taste?!
243  Smiley Smile Stuff / 1970's Beach Boys Albums / Re: The Beach Boys Love You on: December 30, 2005, 05:07:19 PM
I've seen this before... last board?? Nice. Honest. You admit there's some clinkers. I respect that. Cool. Thanks Jason.
I wanna seen Ian & Luther's. Thanks boys!  Smiley
244  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: The return of the "What are you listening to now?" thread on: December 30, 2005, 05:00:54 PM
Was inspired by my post on the funny songs thread... so, listening to more Tom Lehrer.

HA! And her sh*t-on-a-shingle recipe she stole while behind bars.
247  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: Funniest song(s) you've ever heard. on: December 30, 2005, 04:57:20 PM
Keepin' the Summer Alive (the album) makes me laugh.
Where's that can of Whoopass I had.. it's in the cupboard here somewhere. When I find it I WILL open it up!  Wink

Everything by Tom Lehrer makes my howl!!! Astounding, Brilliant individual. Light years ahead of most human beings.

Write ol' Chuck and ask him about swastika carving techniques!
249  Smiley Smile Stuff / 1970's Beach Boys Albums / Re: The Beach Boys Love You on: December 30, 2005, 04:30:17 PM
OK. Honestly. From my heart, really.
I'd like to have someone here who feels up to the task, write up a review (while listening to this album, as I did) and support each track and give it's weaknesses & strengths. Someone who really thinks this release is the work of art that 95% of BB's fans believe it really is. Someone who has a personal attachment to it. I don't see it and I want some rationale. Who's game?
Ian? Luther? Jason? Donald?
Make it shine!

I might even reciprocate with a glowing review of KTSA!    Cool

This recovered mag was with my ticket stub... I bought it when it hit the shelves in Jan '84

Seeing this again makes me sad.  Cry
