Do It Again- new version question
«
on:
July 03, 2014, 08:40:00 PM »
Hi all.. qq:
Is it possible to legitimately download the re-recorded version of Do it Again from back in 2011 or 2012? I remember seeing a video of it on a sizzle reel.
And if so, where?
Thanks

I would like to know who 'really' sang and played on the track!!!!
I mean 'really'..... not what the video implies.

I don't see what's so hard about it. Just download the mofo from Youtube.

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

downloading is illegal unless you pay for it
you can also get it on the zine-pac or treat yourself to MIC boxset!

She did say
legitimately
. And downloading from YouTube isn't exactly legal.
Anyways, no, there are no official downloads for it. I suppose you'd either have to buy the 'zinepak thing or the Japanese version of
TWGMTR
to get it.

I agree with Mikie, no difference illegal or not, if sally wants to hear it - go to YT & get it via clipconverter etc. Stop being snobbish.

ok c-man sorry, I thought it was.... ooops....
still! RangeRover, what you suggest is the reason why the music (and movie) industry is stuffed.....
everyone keeps downloading everything for free, how the ^uck does anyone get paid for their work???
it's ok to say just 'download it for free on xxx', but that's killing music/movie industry.

But you can't escape the reality of the 21st century, the only thing you're left to do is deal with it. If someone posted a song on YT, would you rather go buy it or conveniently download it without cash-grabbing? You may be a muso, but also a listener of other works. Lots of famous & non artists actually don't mind it; I receive lots of E-mails from NoiseTrade offering me the latest EP by Sufjan Stevens (just a few days ago) or whoever.

I see where you're coming from, nevertheless, is an artist really losing after multiple downloads? It seems to me they only win, because it's in & popular today & helps get their name (esp. obscure ones) to the masses in record time, it's called "smart marketing" (or do I mix it up with sth. else? Correction where necessary, I think HeyJude knows the answer being an expert in all this showbiz stuff).

You know how the intro sounds
just
like the original version ? That's because it is. They sampled it. How do I know this ? Dude called Cowsill told me.

It's alright, I perfectly understand folks who'd rather obtain the 1st-rate material than cheaply done upload by a non-professional.

Hmmm, I thought John Guerin was responsible for the (processed) snare drum overdub part heard during the intro.

Same here… I've downloaded audience concert recordings in the past, and a bit of download-only non-legit stuff (Get The Boot etc) but if there's a tangible, legit product for sale - preferably in a physical, tangible store - then lead me to it!
I guess those of us who buy are subsidising those who file share.

To be fair to JC, all he said was that the original intro was sampled. The assumption of Dennyness was entirely mine.

You should take it up with Jon Stebbins, Sweet Dewd

A minor point - but as long as we are setting the record straight, I played the solo on the Do It Again remake. David was added later to the video, and Mr. Stebbins says the track as well, but the guitar solo remains the same.
I think the only way to legally buy the re-make is by purchasing the Japanese Edition of TWGMTR. It was included as a bonus track.
