For the last 6 months, this is something I've wanted to make - a cohesive compilation of Beach Boys songs, organized to form a kind of narrative - and lying wide awake at 5am, I decided it was time to just make the thing. The album is a reflection of the spiritual journey you're taken on when you find out what the music of The Beach Boys really is - in my case, the booming drums of C50 being the starting gun - and all the places it takes you, from the holy (Pet Sounds, Smile) to the strange (Love You, Oh Lord) to the joyful innocence everyone loves in Good Vibrations.

It's called "Symphony To God"

rab2591 and Judd helped me make this, and with their input and audio-editing prowess, it became a really enjoyable project.

Creating it and listening back to the results, we all felt a real joy that no one of us had felt since our individual discoveries of the band. I really hope others will feel the same way.

The tracklist does not represent what is in the 'album' - I haven't listed everything so its more fun and surprising. The whole thing was carefully crafted and full of little things I'm not going to spoil - you'll have find the Honey man yourselves  Grin

I tweaked a lot of the songs with ideas and mixes I've been making for the past year. Mostly minor things, but I think there's enough to be engaging for a longtime fan looking for something fresh.

So please enjoy. Album art is by Judd, and tons of the cool editing was done by rab.
And please post what you think.

I have been dubbed Mr. Pet Sounds and Mr. Country Love by polite and honored board member Smile Brian. I hope I live up to those esteemed titles.

Great Job guys!

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

Thanks!

I told Judd vaguely what I wanted for the album cover...when he sent that back I nearly croaked - its so much better than I could have hoped for.

I've been editing together another one of these that's centered around the deeper tracks...any suggestions for what I should/shouldn't do?

This reminds me of the Beatles compilation Love!  It's great!

Thanks! I love the tidal wave of sound as all the instruments come back in. Gives me goosebumps every time  Grin

It'll hopefully be finished in the next two weeks - I've put more time into it than StG and I'm not even halfway done. The puzzle pieces I'm working with are much harder to fit together...

Same goes for the artwork!

I'm just listening to the entire thing now, and it's great! Just like the Beatle's Love.

On our way through this "backstage" maze, Bruce joined up with the group and said hello, singing "It Never Rains in Southern California" and joking with some of the older ladies. I'm not sure if they knew he was a Beach Boy or simply an enthusiastic elderly gay gentleman.
