WTF @ George Martin inventing the word semi-tone in 1995. That entire statement reminds me a little of this...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H38LiqJdzvI

NO that isin't what I said. More a distortion of what I said. I said George Martin using the term Semitone during the Beatles
anthology while discussing the edit of the two Strawberry Fields sections, and Jeff Lynne & MArk Lewishon discussing The changed
pitch and tempo of Real Love, popularized the term "Semitone" for a lot of internet windbags from the Steve Hoffman forum.
I also said most pop musicians use the Term Half Step instead. George Martin being classicly trained and British is more apt
to say Semitone.

I said this in response to an earlier post which brought the entire semitone term into this threads discussion.
The movie scene did however, have a nice faux view of my old LA Neighborhood on Mulholland.

So far you have called me a Douche, an Idiot and I don't know what else. Quite frankly you are very creepy.

I would agree with the last poster that the anomaly on the Cabin Essence is most probably a faulty 45 pressing or turntable
and not something that will appear on the cd

Me and my hangover misintepreted your post, sorry.

Semi-tone is obviously a common phrase, regardless of Pixletwin's college buddies!

I made some slightly higher quality riP for My own amusement from my own 45, if anyone is interested.

Yep semitone is pretty common - the musicians in my bands use it a lot when we want to change key - as a drummer I don't care  Smiley

If I, in my advanced years, ever get a band off of the ground, it will be christened: The Semitones.

Wonderful moniker.

Pah! Influences: Korn, Meshuggah, Incubus, Feeder???

We'll kill them stone dead with our genuine retromodernfuturistic Dick-Dalian Jacques-Cousteau-influenced bubbly underwater irie reggae-dubwise stylee discotheque classics!

Stunning photo, never saw it before... given Bri's appearance, it could well be the SMiLE period indeed...

Note that there is a woman holding a "sun-gun" or some other high-powered light in the background. I'm thinking this still was taken during the shooting of one of Dennis' home movies from this period (the one with Brian in the studio lit from one side would be logical).

I thought that was a flash bulb from the girl's camera when I first saw that photo.

When brightened up, the background shows a studio room and wood floor that looks like Columbia's studio...combined with Brian's maroon shirt, and how he's sitting at the piano, could this be the Surf's Up performance he filmed with CBS before they filmed at his house? The one described in Jules Siegel's article...

There is a slight stairwell/ramp in the background of that photo which I don't think either Western or Gold Star had, so I'm guessing that was shot at Columbia/CBS.

Pure speculation!

I was gonna guess that, given his attire, it might even have been taken during the filming of the Inside Pop performance of Surf's Up but the shirt looks wrong and that don't look like a grand piano in the photo.

Nevertheless Brian looks like he's dressed for a performance.  Hawaii maybe?

Is that image behind him of a woman reflected in a mirror –  and does the flash indicate that she's taking that photo herself? Or is she holding lighting for a TV / movie camera?

Edit: Lots of posts crossing paths here suddenly!

I'm convinced that was shot at Columbia: The blue carpet and wood floors shown when the photo is brightened up match exactly a photo of Mike and Al at a microphone wearing lots of headphones which was taken at Columbia.

And as I guessed in my post too, I think this *could* have been for the Inside Pop filming, not the one which was aired, but rather the one described in detail in Jules Siegel's article. The studio matches, the shirt matches, etc. They filmed this one at Columbia before they filmed the one at his house.

No way could that be a mirror given that all the illumination on Brian's face and piano is coming from that direction. If this was a reflection of the photographer, that light would primarily be illuminating the side of Brian facing the camera.

I would have thought that the INSIDE POP personnel would have had more professional lighting equipment (as opposed to hand-held lights) which is why I thought Dennis might have been filming. Is Brian wearing the same shirt that we saw in the footage shown in AMERICAN BAND and ENDLESS HARMONY where Brian was playing the piano in a darkened studio?
