Without having listening to the tape in a while, it's a pretty safe bet to assume that whoever's singing (mostly Brian iirc) is the one playing the main instrument on the song - so Brian's obviously playing the organ on Oh Lord, for example.

I was watching the Al Jardine- Postcard from CA promo video and it has Brian singing part of the title song, does he have a vocal line on the album? I thought he was only on 3 tracks: Don't Fight the Sea, Drivin', and Honkin down the Highway.

Also, Macca's "cameo" where he just says: "don't fight the sea" and that's it, was that from another documentary or was that aimed at Al and/or Beach Boys?

And finally, besides the version of Waves of Love that was on the Postcard album, wasn't there another version going around? Not the backstage version...anyone know what I'm talkin about? Where does this come from?

Here's the video I'm discussing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8vx2njD_EU

Does BW's mono backing track for Good Vibrations exist?

Excellent question. I'm thinking probably not as it would have been on the lost Columbia vocal multitrack... unless he made a safety copy before transferring it.

'Course, I could be wrong: has been know. Not very often, mind.

Thank you sir.

Makes sense. Now, would he have made individual mono mixes for each section first, then spliced them together?

If that's the case I wonder if there's a reel with all of the individual sections, unedited. Either way, I guess whatever reel he mixed all of the sections down to would've been where they did the splicing & eventually vocal recording.

Can Brian be heard on Sail On, Sailor? After the fourth chorus (wail on, wail on, sailaaah!), there's a falsetto in the background that sounds awfully like Brian. You can hear it around the 2:07 mark.

Would Boogie Woodie have been a good song for Mike to play sax on ?

I think, a honking root notes only Mike Love signature style sax part, could have really taken it up a notch !

When they sang the national anthem before that baseball game, right?

Okay, since this topic that hit me is rather insignificant and silly, I thought I'd post it here.

I was thinking about the album 'That Lucky Old Sun' the other day, most specifically, the title track reprise just before the song 'Going Home'. For some silly reason I imagined, during the reprise, Brian singing "He's rollin' up to heaven all day!",  then the next song you hear is the dirty version of Ding Dang!  LOL

Well now I see why Mike has to always wear a baseball cap but why does Bruce also have to?  Historical seems to actually have a nice head of hair.

does anyone know what Dennis thought of Bruce? I know Dennis always had issues with Mike and since Bruce is often seen as Mike's puppet, then I've wondered if Dennis had any hostility towards him.

When did Brian start doing the hand motions during songs? I know he would do the occasional hand gesture in the 1960's in songs like Papa Om Mow Mow, or when they lipsynched I Get Around(rubbing his hands together on the word "bread"). But when did he start "acting out" parts of every song like he normally does today? I don't think he did it much in the 1970's or early 80's from what I have seen. When he sang a song during the Long Beach 1981 show(God Only Knows, I think?) he kept one hand stretched out on the piano and remained stiff as a board. Was he doing it at all during the late 1980's or 1990's shows with The Beach Boys? Or did he only start doing it during his solo tours?

Look a little closer and you'll see that it's not so nice. Once you see what I mean, you'll realize why.
