So I'd been going through some of my old CD-R's that I burned prolly 5 years ago...and, as a treat for myself, I'd always add random Bonus tracks at the end...usually, they were unrelated to the disc at hand, like last night, I was listening to what I wrote on the disc: "30th Anniversery Concert," I don't know if it's correct, but I do know it's a concert from London from early to mid 90s...nothing spectacular on there. For me, it's notable because it's the only live recording of Still Cruisin' I have....ANYWAYS, the bonus tracks I added were some random "single mixes" or what I think are the 45 edit/mixes....I'm just wondering if I'm correct, I kinda find it strange most of the late 70s had single edits, but are they different mixes?

-Why do Fools Fall in Love (intro cut off and start's with whole group vocal: "WHY DO FOOLS FALL IN LOVE, mmm bop doo bop")...is this a different mix?
-California (Brian's "I'm on my Way to sunny California" "I'm on  my way," is very prevalent throughout the whole song)
-Honkin' Down the Highway (drum intro cut off...I honestly think the mix sounds cleaner on this one)
-Come Go with Me (original mix from 15 Big Ones? which I actually prefer this version)
-Hey Little Tomboy (I can't tell a difference on this)
-Lady Linda (harpsichord intro cut off...any other difference?)
-School Days (only change I can hear is the bell that rings after the opening vocal intro...any other changes?)

Additionally, I know there's the Here Comes the Night single/shorter edit...unfortunately that wasn't on the disc. What other songs had a single edit? Oh yeah, Never Learn not to Love has the gong intro cut off. and doesn't Rock and roll Music have a different/better mix? I know there's things like the Cotton Fields 45/album version, that's not really what I'm looking for, but just the singles that are edited in some form or fashion.

Oh, and of course there's the different mixes of Susie Cincinatti.

Not sure about the others but the version of Why Do Fools Fall In Love? that you are talking about is the 45 edit, it's available on the US Singles Collection Box - Disc 7, originally b-side to Fun Fun Fun.

Also, i've these which are listed on a boot as BB songs but i'm fairly certain they aren't. Am i right? If no-one else has heard of 'em i'll assume so:

Ode To Betty Joe + Itīs Time = The Pickle Brothers

What's the reason behind the fact that the clearly-superior choir version of 'That Same Song' wasn't included on 15 Big Ones?

Because it wasn't seen as an album session/it may have been done after the album was done, or even after it was released?

I recently purchased BW's album he did with Stephen K....that was kinda out of left field, how it was released. Could we ever hear the Cows in the Pasture material with Fred Vail some day?
I honestly can't even imagine what it'd sound like, but I'm really interested in it. Has anyone asked Fred or Brian about it in an interview?

The gospel version of That Same Song is on youtube. Well worth a watch - the band (including Brian) seem to be having a fantastic time, and it's vastly superior to the album version!

Neither It's a Beautiful Day or It's a New Day are listed, so again anyone got any idea when they were recorded, for what album and written by who?

Maybe, if you keep searching the whole site, you'll find more info.

So what are we still missing from Smile that is essential to release since TSS was released?

Uh, because that wasn't a studio recording?

That makes sense. For some reason I've always thought the choir thing happened before the actual recording. Sorry.

Everything you claim isn't listed, is. Try harder.

More importantly, the urls posted are for the old BT internet site, which hasn't been updated in some three years or more. Here's the correct addy:

Bellagio 10452

Undying thanks to my gracious host, David Beard/ESQ, whithout whom the site would have died when BT pulled the plus without telling me.

There was rumour of a DYLW / Ding Dang mixed version recorded in Feburary, and counting over 20 min. Most of it going to Ding Dang ofc.  Cool Guy

Is there any chance of Rollin Up To Heaven ever getting an official release? Surely it'd have to be a bonus track on any Love You reissue. It's way better than Ding Dang, and it'd be great to see a Beach Boys album with one of them 'Contains Stong Language' stickers slapped on the front.

He recorded it (or most of it) with Scott Bennett. They could never get a deal to release it.

Guess he wanted (and still wants) to make one, and mentioned it again and again over the course of 10+ years (or more) but always ended up doing other stuff instead - concept stuff he was convinced to do by wife&managers (or commissioned to do) or maybe himself thought to be a better idea than the r&r album. Who knows. If he leaves the BBs after the reunion 2012, and continues to record (which is very likely), we might finally hear that r&r album he's been talking about for so long.  Smiley Might even be the Macca co-production he's been dreaming about.
