Do you think he's hung around this long because he's friends with Mike? I wonder what Brian, Bruce and Al think about him. Although, posting these types of questions might be dangerous, considering how "certain people" supposedly check this board out.  police

I was trying to think of a song that Brian has worked on that perhaps his vocals from every "era of vocals" contains...this includes his early voice, gruff voice, and shouty voice; I know there's other "eras of vocals" but these are the 3 main ones I can agree on.
The only thing I can think of is Sandy/Sherri/Terri/She Needs Me...Think of it, I know the Sandy track is a bit different but it's the same feel and we all know the Sherri She Needs me from the mid-70s...and then Terri She Needs Me was supposedly worked on during BW 88 (which I've actually never heard) but to me, doesn't that single song contain all his different voices? Can anyone think of another good example?
I was thinking of how Can't Wait Too Long has been worked on from the Wild Honey era to the 20/20 era (to what extent, I have no idea) to the KTSA era (and also to what extent, I have no idea) to the TLOS album...can anyone make a giant suite containing all these eras together?  Grin

Then this had me thinking if there's any tunes out there that have all five members (3 Wilsons, 1 Love, 1 Jardine) plus 1 Johnston and 2 Flames (Blondie/Ricky) singing on one song...can anyone think of one or two or three?

I've been looking at my vinyl for a while, looking at the price guide and I've got a couple that are foreign...are they worth more here in the States or just plain worth as much as a copy of Endless Summer here in the states?

Is it me, or does Mike's song "Make Love, Not War" sound a lot like "Addicted to Love" by Robert Palmer?

What's with All Day on Disc 2 on TSS? Is this on the disc for chronological situation? I thought it was Love to say Dada/CCW territory?

I think because it was slated as a Heroes & Villains session? Chronologically, the two 'Dada' tracks come first. I'm away from my sessionography, so I can't tell you exactly how far apart they are, but that's how it is in my playlist.

Does the title-ing of it being "All Day" have anything to do with folks thinkin' Whistle In is part of Heroes and Villains?

I'm pretty sure Whistle In is the Hawaiin chant on DYLW....but in my opinion, the lyrics are an awesome chant that I wish were from Smile era.

How "finished" was Cabin Essence by the collapse of the SMiLE sessions? I know that Dennis's "truck driver" vocal was recorded in '68, but other than that I don't know any details.

Carl's vocal was also added in 1968.

Arguably done and dusted bar the vox as per AGD above (which were recorded by Stephen Desper in the Fall of 68).

The track was layed down 10/3/66, background vox were added 10/11/66 (Who ran chorus + over and over tag), Grand Coulie and doyn's on 12/6/66, then Brian added some additional layers to the Who ran bit on 12/27/66.

I say arguably, as who knows what further tinkerin' Brian may have undertaken had the sessions not collapsed.

That aside, I always marvel as to how they nailed a really complex and epic track in 1 evening - quite an achievement compared to the amount of time spent on GV and HV.

Yeah, test mixes also indicate Brian had the sequence down pat too - so it was just missing the lead and Truck Driving man. Also, the 'Telephone Wire' lyrics, if they were indeed slated for recording.

Speaking of which, how did those lyrics come to be known about if they were never recorded?

I remember seeing the lyrics for the first time in Endless Summer Quarterly in early 2000's....I don't remember if there's a story with it or not...I do remember seeing the artwork in that issue. With being at work right now, I can't look in that issue at the moment.

Does it occur to anyone that there was no such thing as a truck driver who would high tail their load off the road when the grand coolies were working on the railroad?  Just a thought.

Maybe it was VDP/BW bringing in new vehicular technology?

Since these are U.S. sessions recorded in the U.S. by a U.S. band, it might be best to keep the dates in U.S. order...10/3/66, 10/11/66, 12/6/66, 12/27/66...just to keep things clear.

If I'm remembering it correctly, I believe it was from Frank Holmes who was describing lyrics he was given by VDP, or the story of the lyrics as told to him by VDP to prepare the artwork.

Does there exist a BB-recorded jingle for Wolfman Jack?

I recently heard an old Wolfman Jack show from 1971, and he plays a jingle that sounds a lot like the lads.  Has a real sunny '70s vibe to it, even has the 'walkdown' ending reminiscent of the KWFB spot.   If it's not them, it's a real good sound-alike!
