I have another question. I think I have read in a few places that some fans have been lucky enough to get to meet Brian and Mike/Bruce at their shows. Is this something they both do regularly or is it quite rare? If they do have meet and greets where do you find the information? I'm going to both the BB and BW concerts in the UK.

I don't know about Mike & Bruce, but Brian meet & greets are scarce, due to the mans evaporating enthusiasm and the behaviour of one orthinologically inclined poster on the Bloo...

(someone back me up on this so I don't sound crazy, even if my facts aren't straight Roll Eyes)

What did she do? I have to know!

Is this true? That crazy debt reneging aging hippy chick! Now if it had been Zooey who'd asked, do you think Brian would have whipped out his magic marker?

Punkinhead and hypehat, thank you for your replies. Are there any videos of TTGA from the Smile concerts on the internet?

This is the first time I've been to see the Beach Boys (in any form) and I thought I'd see both UK concerts especially as Brian might retire. I so wish I could have seen them all together, but that's life! I don't like Mike but it will be good to see someone who changed music all those decades ago! It's so amazing that these people were singing Surfin' 50 years ago!

On another note, I am on Twitter and want to know if there is anyone associated with the Beach Boys or anyone here that i should follow?

Brian's is "BrianWilsonLive," although it doesn't get updated too frequently.

Is that a rhetorical question?

You might want to try David Beard @beachboysexamin who has some articles up on occasion.

On Wonderful, what's that instrument that comes in on the second verse that sounds like pizzicato violins, or maybe a strummed guitar? It plays the chords on beats 1-2-3

It's an acoustic guitar with the strings dampened. You can try it yourself by putting a piece of linen, like a sock or something, underneath the strings right at the bottom of the guitar, leave enough room for the strings to sound, but not vibrate.

On the TLOS song: Good Kind of Lovin', does it reference Darlene/Spector's Wait Til My Bobby gets Home's chorus: "some lovin' and some kissin' and a huggin'"?

Just listening to it while riding a bike and stoned...it just sounded so similar

I found this line to be particularly funny for some reason:

Has Pacific Ocean Blue been issued in both stereo and mono? I've been listening to the Beatles stereo box set lately, and it occured to me how cool it would be to be able to have both mixes of the POB album.

Well, POB was never mixed in mono (as far as I know) but a few accounts from people who have heard Dennis' mix of POB have said the difference between the released mix and Dennis' mix are like night and day - leagues of buried sound uncovered, very much like a mono recording remixed into stereo. Not saying POB was ever mixed in mono, just using the analogy. Hopefully Dennis' mix will be released; don't know why it wasn't put on the 2008 reissue. It could have easily fit on the second half of the first disc, provided the four bonus tracks were moved to the second disc.

Jon or Ed will (rightly) correct me if I'm remembering amiss, but there is no "Dennis mix" of the whole album, rather reference cassettes of rough mixes of maybe half the songs.

I was reading on one of my numerous print outs, I think it was from Mtvernonandfairway.de that there was discussion of a song called Lori but it was just a re-write of the song Number One which is just a re-write of Visions....My questions are, who sings on Lori and Visions? Was Lori ever released? and Why didn't Brian use that melody for something more important like the albums he was working on at the time? Surfin' USA coulda used another slow number and kick one of those instrumentals out.
