hearing these Today and Summer Days tracks in stereo is too much for me...I know some people think it's blasphemous, but i've pretty much always preferred the official stereo mixes to the mono.  Just makes the sound a lil more modern.

They lowered the 2nd double track on "In the back..." And it basically makes it 10000000000x better.

If you have this, please, I'm ON MY KNEES BEGGING. PLEASE find some way to get the tracks out, I can't sleep now and I need to hear Today and Smiley. I'm not even kidding or overreacting, I just can't even move from amazement.

Guys, I finally heard what you all hear in Today, I mean I liked it before, but now it's so much more!

Edit: Don't even move after reading this, just sit still and click: http://www.hmv.co.jp/en/artist_Beach-Boys_000000000000485/item_Today_5103180

New Kiss Me, Baby Mix is the best by light years, absolutely amazing, I can hear the Vibes PERFECTLY but still subtly, like the Mono mix.

I'm really digging Good Vibes too, they did a good job with that, the chorus is superb.

Keep in mind these samples sound a little rough, I'd imagine they sound much clearer straight from a CD.

It is laid out a little weird. Just click on the song title and it will bring up a 'jukebox' of sorts.

Yeah, of course, but it gives us a really good representation of the stereo spread and the fact that they didn't just present instrumental mixes on some of the tracks (which I was fearing), but everything sounds great - sure to sound better when and if we get the real thing!

The dream of Amsterdamee...

The release of the 12 Japanese CD's(and they HAVE been released; amazon.co.jp lists them as "In Stock") has created two possible scenarios, neither of which is beneficial to EMI or The Beach Boys, specifically:

A. Non-Japanese fans will pay $400 to $450(or the equivalent in European currencies), plus shipping to buy the 12 CD's. This will take enormous amounts of money out of fans pockets; money that could have been spent on EMI's British, European or American CD product, and the Japanese discs will not generate any more artist or song publishing royalties for The Beach Boys, then what would have been generated by reasonably priced £12 British CD's or $14 American CD's.
or....
B. Fans will illegally download the music, possibly damaging the sales potential of possible future releases in other territories, that is, unless EMI & Capitol eventually(and soon) render the Japanese discs obsolete by releasing U.S.A.,UK or European editions that contain everything from the Japanese releases and more(I.E. bonus tracks)

and

C. No-one will buy the heavily priced CD’s, thus making this project a huge failure, prices dropping quickly, and making it possible for fans buying the series for a reasonable price anyway. This results in a certain member of the BB suing Phil Cohen for solely ruining a potential goldmine and significant lost revenues.  Grin

But now back in serious mode:
  • So it’s a Japanese only release (for now… we don’t know)
  • And so it’s pretty expensive.
  • If you find these too expensive?: don’t buy them !
  • If you think they’re worth every Yen?: buy them !
  • If you really want them, but still think they’re too expensive?:
            - Again – don’t buy them, or
            - don’t buy them yet, or
            - make a priority list and pick out your favorite ones
  • Make your statement on this, get over it – and please don’t keep repeating it; we can read, after two statements we get your point. But – if you still do – don’t act surprised or aggrieved when you receive “don’t feed the troll”-like responses (whether or not valid).  Remember Newton's laws of motion? “To every action there is always an equal and opposite reaction”. I know this is about physics, but it certainly also applies on conversations.

Phil, I am 100% sure that recorded music will not die.

Don't feed da troll.

There's no trolling in post #542, but by now you are totally indoctrinated(into posting hateful responses) by your leader, the arsonist wannabe Mr.Doe.

You’re speaking for yourself here, Phil. We’re (almost) all grown-up people here who can perfectly speak for themselves, what we think of this release and decide who’s opinions or factual statements we believe. That you and AGD don’t particularly like each other and don’t hesitate to express that here from time to time is fine by me (although a more civil tone from both of you would be highly appreciated), but there’s no reason pointing at AGD to everyone who also obviously doesn’t agree with your repeated statements or opinions.

Capitol has released 4 popular Beach Boys albums in first-time stereo, and you guys think that there's nothing wrong with Capitol neglecting the many Beach Boys fans outside Japan. Obviously, the group has a significant amount of fans on this side of the world too.

Correction - Capitol Japan has released them. It's their baby and nothing to do with the parent company in the USA. There are many Japanese only Capitol releases. Maybe Capitol USA will pick up the ball and run with it... maybe they have other plans like, say, a 50th anniversary GH collection and a rebooted career-spanning box set to concern them right now. We'll see.
