Phil, I am 100% sure that recorded music will not die.

Don't feed da troll.

There's no trolling in post #542, but by now you are totally indoctrinated(into posting hateful responses) by your leader, the arsonist wannabe Mr.Doe.

You guys are still under the hypnotic spell of your ringleader Mr.Doe, parroting his every word.

To be fair, he has been right.

Has Mr Doe ever said "f*** Off Phil you fucking morbid lunatic"?
Because if he has I am under his "spell"...

Phil, I am 100% sure that recorded music will not die.

I'm not saying that it will, but a takeover of EMI Music Worldwide by Vivendi Universal could cause many release plans to be put on hold, until the new owner decides what they want to do with their new property.

I'm guessing that "try and make some money out of it" is going to feature in those priorities at some stage.

Capitol has released 4 popular Beach Boys albums in first-time stereo, and you guys think that there's nothing wrong with Capitol neglecting the many Beach Boys fans outside Japan. Obviously, the group has a significant amount of fans on this side of the world too.

When Amazon Japan starts selling these types of releases, don't Amazon USA or Amazon UK usually offer them as well, as an "import"?

We're excited to hear the stuff Phil, and all hoping it gets released in our relevant territories.

You make some pertinent points and occasionally come out with some sensible arguments.

But your conclusions are nearly always pessimistic, negative and don't chime with the way the rest of the fan community feels.

Hey, you know what? Previously unavailable stereo and mono mixes have been released!

Don't get angry! It seems like you'd rather it hadn't happened at all!

Typically, yes.  It is odd this time around.

Just for kicks I checked iTunes' Japanese store.  The new Beach Boys releases aren't listed there.

I purchased all but Surfer Girl, Surf's Up, and Sunflower (I plan on picking these up at some point as well) and they are en route.  Estimated delivery is Thursday.  I'll share my thoughts when I give these a listen.
I'm purchasing as long as you can verify that GV, IGA, HMR, etc. are true stereo mixes.

Out of curiousity, whereabouts did you purchase these?  From Amazon Japan?  Can you order something from the Japanese Amazon to the States?

Yes, you can. Shipping is expensive, though. Even converts to US dollars as soon as you add your credit card info.

Thanks.  I just played with HMV.com Japan and ordering two CD's alone would cost around $70.  Think I'll hold off for awhile...

This was just posted on the SH boards (by user Mothengask):

I got Smiley Smile today from Amazon.jp.

I literally just opened it. It's HDCD, like the Smile Sessions. Packaging is nice, gatefold digi-pack with the first inner panel as the back of the LP and some nice photos inside on the second panel.

I hope they put these out soon domestically, unless I am blown away by this I won't be buying any more at the import price. Even then, I won't be buying too many more.

It says all tracks were mixed to stereo by Mark Linnett accept Good Vibrations which is a "stereo extraction mix" by Derry Fitzgerald under Linnetts supervision.

Can't wait to hear this in stereo!!

From the sample on the Today! album, it seems She Knows Me Too Well has a double tracked vocal. I think it was single tracked on the Singles box.
YSBIM on Pet Sounds is double tracked too, just like the current SACD.
