So... whose first priority is now to include this version of Surf's Up into a Wild Honey mix? I'm thinking right after Let The Wind Blow. Sock it to me, to follow.

Slim, you just beat me to it... My friend also said that it was OK to disclose that he provided an acetate (and only existing source) of a tune that has been rumored and talked about (and heard by a few lucky souls -- but never bootlegged!), that was cut during the SMiLE sessions, but not necessarily intended to be a part of SMiLE... "Teeter Totter Love."
The cat is definitely out of the bag now!

Lots of curve balls in there, 2 versions of Love to Say Dada from December 1966!? Is that "All Day"? One of them on Fender Rhodes. Wow.

Heroes and Villains: Mission Pak?
Heroes And Villains: Part 3 (Animals) (Master Take)
?? "All Day" is on Disc 2, so that means the two versions of Dada from 1966 are something different. What the hell!?

Yeah, and better yet, why are the tracks from '66 called simply "DaDa" and the ones from May '67 called "Love To Say DaDa"? Hmmm...

And "Love to Say Dada"/"Cool, Cool Water" from 12/22/66? The "Cool, Cool Water" idea/variation was conceived back then?

No Surf's Up Second Movement, No "Jazz", No "Look" vocals it seems. I was not expecting Dennis and Carl's songs to be on the set, nice touch, but not terribly essentially. I am curious to hear "I Don't Know", I don't think that has ever been booted. It doesn't appear that the single 45 version of Heroes pt 1&2 appears on the cds.
The whole cd of GV is a surprise as well. We already have the 6/16 and 6/18 sessions on UM, as well as some of the other sessions. Not the "inspiration" sessions though, I wonder what those are about. Are we getting a stereo GV in there anywhere? 22. Good Vibrations single version stereo track??? Or is that backing track only? I can't really tell in general which tracks feature vocals and which tracks don't, it doesn't appear that there are many on there that are vocal only.
What about, 2. Vegetables: Ballad Insert 4/14/67? Don't think I've heard anything of that before.
There are two versions of Child, 16. Child Is Father Of The Man (Version 1) 10/7/66, 17. Child Is Father Of The Man (Version 2) 10/11/66. For a long time AGD and others have been saying that Brian completed a mix of the song and that it nearly appeared on a previous comp, maybe Hawthorne. Is that included here?
What's with Old Master Painter parts 1 & 2?
Any idea on that? Is part one OMP with part two being Sunshine?
Anybody wanna go through those tracks on cd 2 and figure out what everything could be?

Why is there a Three Blind Mice session from October of 1965?
Also, why is it not November 1st right now?

Isn't it really weird that Amazon keeps making all these updates in the wee hours of the morning, east coast time? And why is Amazon the only source with any details? It seems like no one but us know about this yet.

Time for me to chime in...
I have it from a very reliable source (who heard the box set in its near-finished state) that this track is indeed a piano-and-vocal version of "Surf's Up," played on Brian's uniquely tuned piano, that Brian cut during the "Wild Honey" sessions, for reasons unknown. While this version is identical in basic structure to what we already have, it is said to contain chord changes and key modulations that are not present on ony other recorded version of "Surf's Up," and left my friend "speechless" when he heard it...
Lee
This is pretty incredible. Surf's Up Wild Honey style? Wow. Who knew?
