If the session tracks are separated in four different studios, as seen on the cd labels
, what would be the tracklist?
No Columbia label, but Brother Records instead. Some relation?
They're not, as your listing proves, unless we're going to have some seriously short and/or compressed CDs.
For example, you'd have "H&V" scattered across three CDs. The labels have one purpose - to look nice. And they do.
FWIW, Disc 1 of the Buffalo Springfield box set had a similar Gold Star label.

They are on the last 2 pages...I think we just don't get to them on the video.

It says six panel folder containing 5 cd's. This confuses me.

"Surf's Up (Piano Demo)" which I had assumed would be the solo Brian version BUT now I'm thinking it really is
just
a piano demo, meaning all you hear is the piano (like the "Don't Talk" piano demo on PET SOUNDS SESSIONS)...
...and, therefore, the 1967 solo "Surf's Up" is the piano demo plus Brian's vocals we're familiar with from the GV Box Set.
The demo is dated 12/15/66, so it's the 1993 box version. The 1967 (solo) version is... something else.
Thanks AGD for setting my head straight on that.
Okay, I'm back with the idea that Dom Priore is alluding to this particular cut in his MAKING OF SMiLE book. Here's the quote:
(In January, 1967)...Brian held two final tracking sessions for the middle section of "Surf's Up", both of which exist and remain unreleased to this day. A finished tape of "Surf's Up" from early 1967 does exist, although it has never been released in any form.
Dom seems to be saying that what we've been calling "Surf's Up Part 2" was recorded and exists. The next sentence refers to a finished (?) "Surf's Up" tape from early '67 that also exists but has not been released. Whatever that "finished tape" is seems to be making its debut on THE SMiLE SESSIONS. Perhaps this particular track will include the backing track to "Part 2"?

wow! i thought for a moment that they found the vocal track for good vibrations, but it doesn't seem like it
cabinessence sounds infinitely better without the hiss, and even heroes and villains sounds clearer
this is really exciting

Should we bothered, nonplussed, or aroused that Look is also given the title 'Song For Children'?

[standing on a box with a megaphone]No one has paid $100 or $146 or any other amount for the Smile box yet. Your credit cards are charged only when the box actually ships. I don't know why, but Amazon changes list prices several times when an item listing first shows up. Keep calm and carry on. Thank you.[/rant over]
I would personally love it if the items flew out of the box just like they do in the video. That would be so...Smile.

"Do You Dig Worms" is also parenthetically titled "(Roll Plymouth Rock)". I'm not bothered by it -- I'm assuming they just wanted to signal to fans who only know BWPS that these songs are the same with different titles.

Most disappointing aspect? That Dennis and Carl, who may have had the most compelling words to say, are not part of the liner notes.
Wait and see.

Hang in there - it's got ten weeks to bounce around. I've ordered stuff off amazon and watched the price yo-yo, then settle back to pretty much the original listing. Sometimes even less.

How was that video found? Is there a direct link to it, to perhaps view it larger?
And is no one gonna say anything about Cabin Essence double tracked stereo vocals??

Just listened more closely - standard 20/20 lead vocal (i.e. mono/ADT), but excellently remastered.

So Andrew, are you indignant that the package is morphing into "The Smile (and Part of 'Wild Honey' and '20/20') Sessions"?

Let's wait and see the full track list. There may be mitigating/contextual circumstances. Or maybe not.

That would be 100,000 copies... I think that might just happen...
Ah, less, actually, as there are technically nine discs: 55,556 copies.
