He also had a compilation called The Lost Years (a bunch of unreleased and rare stuff from his career as well as a "hits" CD), The Work Tapes (1992), and an album called The Circle Continues that was released in very limited quantities a few years back.
His reggae version of Kokomo is on Get the Boot.
Thanks, Real Beach Boy, yeah, now that you mention it, I remember The Lost Years - Work Tapes and Circle Continues I never heard of. Are all three official cd releases?

search David Marks on amazon and you get 90 pages of listings, who has time for THAT?? Try David Marks Beach Boys and it's narrowed down to three pages, but still not complete. What have I got, then? Nascar, The Moon twofer, and The Marksmen cd's. Get them while you can, they are excellent! What did I get rid of? I Think About You Often, cd 2007, well mine was a cd-r, and the contents were forgettable, but I'm curious to know if it had a proper redbook cd release at all? What am I missing, very HTF? Something Funny Goin' On, Quiver Records, 2003 The few times I've seen this listed, it was priced at $100 plus, and they didn't ship to Denmark. Dunno if I'll ever find a copy. Supposed to be very good indeed. Must have been a small press run. That leaves me looking for one live album, but then I'd like to know if he had any surf tribute group appearances, that might be deemed "collectible", anything of worth out there?

So, what have you got? I've always wanted this one, vintage 1976 Brian in bathrobe, taken from the Rolling Stone feature, Mark London design: Here's another one I missed when it was on sale, Mark London design again: My only BB poster, and Brian's got his eyes closed, mine is without venue and dates, plain:

I've been avoiding links to advance listens of NPP; I want my first listen to be on my stereo, but today on FB I caved in and played Sail Away from the Vegas soundstage, man, it's an instant classic! No other artist from his generation can come up with something as beautiful and fresh like that, after more than 50 years! Brian Wilson is peerless in that respect.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / rank the ten members of the band in order of preference and contributions

here's a quick little exercise, take each of the ten past and present official members of The Beach Boys, and rank them in order of preference and contributions to the band. no.1 should be straight forward, but then it get's difficult. you are free to add reasons for your choices, if you like.
1. brian (main songwriter, best falsetto once) 2. mike (hardest working bb, main lead vocals, chief lyricist, wrote The California Myth) 3. carl (the voice of an angel, the bridge between band factions) 4. dennis (the second best songwriter, vital drummer, the soul of The Beach Boys) 5. al (solid rhythm guitarist who surprised with some good originals and choice covers) 6. david (the best guitarist in the band) 7. bruce (should have written more songs for a man who wrote "I Write the Songs", a grammy winner) 8. blondie (sail on sailor) 9. ricky (preferable to john stamos!)
10. glen campbell (important pinch hitter until bruce came along, but bruce was a good choice, coming out of surf rock)

i hope it gets worldwide distrbution and preems in denmark. if danish tv could show the beard movie, surely there must be a market for something so clearly better. if jersey boys can get danish distribution, i don't see why love and mercy shouldn't have a market. only the older generation of danes remember the four seasons at all, but beach boys span the generations, as they do all over the world. isn't there also a dennis movie in production?

They played it a few times on the Brian Wilson/Jeff Beck tour.
thanks, good to know. i realize it wasn't a hit and therefore might get lost in the set list shuffle, but i think i read somewhere that he found that song difficult to do live. still, i've seen him sing forever, and lay down burden, which he dedicated to carl.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / 'til i die performed live

back in 2002, when brian and band played their first of many glorious concerts at royal festival hall, "'til i die" was one of the first songs played. since then i have seen brian and band 24 times, 25 with c50, but no more live performances of "'til i die", one of THE masterpieces in the catalog. i am just wondering if it has been too difficult for brian to play it, given the loss of his two brothers.

the one time i had the opportunity to meet brian wilson i was shaking like a leaf, but after shaking hands, getting an autograph, and brian telling me to "have a good sleep", i couldn't help myself and told him "you are the greatest songwriter ever". brian looked genuinely surprised, and asked me, "better than bacharach?" i replied, "oh yes, you are better than bacharach" brian then added, "how about mccartney", to which i replied, "you are better than him too, you have no idea how great you are, etc. etc.". real fanboy gushing, and his band stood around the table, laughing. as i let the next person in the line step up to meet the genius, brian laughed to himself, "not better than mccartney". professional modesty?
