Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Should Mike Pender get back with The Searchers?

That will in all likelihood never happen, but we can dream. Saw The Searchers twice (Frank Allen & Jeff McNally), but still not Mike Pender's Searchers. Maybe a 50th annniversary reunion? If the Beach Boys kan make peace, so can The Searchers! from http://www.myspace.com/thesearchersWith the success of retrospective films and radio programs such as Little Steven's Underground Garage, music of the 1960’s is still a major attraction. All too often, finding the genuine and authentic article to perform the music is a much bigger problem. Mike Pender was an original founding member of The Searchers. He performed on all the hit records and was the actual lead singer on most of the big hits. Mike was entirely responsible for the unique 12 string guitar sound, which some say inspired Roger McGuinn and The Byrds. After singles such as SWEETS FOR MY SWEET and SUGAR AND SPICE, Mike took over lead vocals from Tony Jackson and fronted THE SEARCHERS on chart-topping hits such as WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO THE RAIN, GOODBYE MY LOVE, TAKE ME FOR WHAT I’M WORTH, TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT, DON’T THROW YOUR LOVE AWAY, WHEN YOU WALK IN THE ROOM, NEEDLES AND PINS plus many more. Mike left THE SEARCHERS in 1985 to pursue a career of his own. Selecting a group of talented musicians, he sought to re–create the unique sound that earned THE SEARCHERS a legendary status in the world of rock and roll. MIKE PENDER’S SEARCHERS is the result. Mike has recorded new material and still plays the hits from his many years in The Searchers. MIKE PENDER'S SEARCHERS have stayed active, recording new material and releasing CDs in numerous countries around the world. Not to mention, Mike Pender's Searchers have literally travelled the world performing in Australia, U.S.A., Holland, Germany, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, The United Arab Emirates as well as the length and breadth of Britain. In 1994 Mike Pender's Searchers were the very first 60's band to be invited to play on board the QE2 as part of the world famous liner's 25th anniversary celebrations. Mike Pender's Searchers have performed with a variety of other artists including Herman's Hermits starring Peter Noone, The Troggs, Dave Berry, Freddie And The Dreamers, Gerry Marsden of Gerry & The Pacemakers, The Hollies, The Ivy League, PJ Proby, Wayne Fontana & The Mindbenders, Brian Poole & The Tremeloes and Roy Wood of The Move. Despite the fact that Mike Pender has remained loyal to his musical roots, he still lives in Liverpool. He is well aware that Mike Pender's Searchers have to present a show that is up to date with the 21st Century. Their hugely impressive custom built lighting and sound equipment (the envy of a great many other 60’s groups) is ample proof of this. Hits from Mike's recordings with The Searchers include: * SWEETS FOR MY SWEET 16 Weeks in Charts – 1 * NEEDLES AND PINS 15 Weeks in Charts – 1 * DON’T THROW YOUR LOVE AWAY 11 Weeks in Charts – 1 * SUGAR AND SPICE 13 Weeks in Charts – 2 * WHEN YOU WALK IN THE ROOM 12 Weeks in Charts – 3 * GOODBYE MY LOVE 11 Weeks in Charts – 4Læs mere: http://www.myspace.com/thesearchers#ixzz12XiavsTb Product Details Audio CD (April 25, 2002) Number of Discs: 1 Format: Import Label: Bear Family That Was Then This Is Now Mike Penders Searchers (Artist) | Format: Audio CD Product Details Audio CD (November 13, 2009) Label: Mega International records CD-R Note: This product is manufactured on demand when ordered from Amazon.com. 1. Another nail in my coffin. What the Curt Boettcher credit or the discography? Wouldn't you like to see those albums on CD? Not the Boettcher credit. With all due respect: the solo efforts of mr Love are not of any interest to me. It's a personal thing, I guess, because many others can really appreciate them. Do you collect Curt Boettcher and Millennium? And Association?

THE DOOBIE BROTHERS LEAP INTO CHARTS FIRST WEEK OUT WITH NEW CD Immediate Press Raves Include “Album of the Year” and “Song of the Day”
(Los Angeles) World Gone Crazy, the first new album by The Doobie Brothers in 10 years on HOR Records, soared into the upper reaches of the sales charts in its very first week of release. It hit the Top 10 of Billboard’s Independent Albums chart, debuting at #8, as well as #14 on the Top Internet Albums chart. It also debuted in the Top 40 of the Billboard 200 at #39 and at #31 on the Top Digital Albums chart.
At the same time, critics are hailing the return to record by the legendary rock’n’roll group who boast 40 million albums sold over their nearly four decade career. The New York Post declared World Gone Crazy as its pick for the Grammy Award for “Album of the Year,” hailing it as “a smokin’ mix of roadhouse boogies, classic rock and country.” The Newark Star-Ledger featured the lead single “Nobody” as its “Song of the Day,” dubbing it “excellent.”
The Fort Smith Times Record noted how at a recent show “new songs from the just-released World Gone Crazy CD… all were given the cheers and whistles usually associated with a group’s most-beloved cuts.”
The new album features the singing, songwriting and guitar playing of the band’s founding frontmen Pat Simmons and Tom Johnston as well as longtime members John McFee (on guitars, violin, mandolin and banjo) and Michael Hossack (drums and percussion), plus guest appearances by former Doobie Brother Michael McDonald and the legendaryWillie Nelson. It was co-produced by Ted Templeman, who worked with the Doobies on their string of classic records from the band’s 1971 debut through such million-selling albums as Toulouse Street (double platinum), The Captain & Me, What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits (double platinum), Takin’ It to the Streets, Minute by Minute (triple platinum) and One Step Closer plus the 10 million selling Best of The Doobies.
The first single from World Gone Crazy is a rerecorded version of the group’s 1971 debut single “Nobody,” which jumped into the Top 30 of the Triple A radio chart its first week out. VH1 Classic added the video of the song, making it one of the few new songs the channel has aired, joining clips by Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi to enjoy that rare stature. The Doobies also recently appeared on VH1 Classic’s “Rock Nights.” And the band’s 1973 Top 15 hit single “China Grove” is featured in the Rock Band 3 video game released the same day as the new album.
The Doobie Brothers celebrate the release of World Gone Crazy with a three-week European tour followed by U.S. dates in November. The response to the new album and their live shows prove, as the Allentown Morning Call notes, “these guys can still rock.”

I never thought I'd see Michael McDonald back with Doobie Brothers, even if only as guest vocalist on one song, this is happy news: World Gone Crazy Doobie Brothers | Format: Audio CD Product Details Audio CD (September 28, 2010) Original Release Date: 2010 Number of Discs: 1 Label: HOR Records amazon.com review: Editorial Reviews Product Description There's no separating the unparalleled legacy of The Doobie Brothers from their upcoming release "World Gone Crazy." The Doobie Brothers have honored the broader, 40-year band's legacy with a new studio album that grows in unexpected directions. Founding members Tom Johnston and Pat Simmons are joined by longtime members John McFee and Mike Hosack. Ted Templeman, the producer behind the band biggest hits and other classics(Van Halen, Eric Clapton, Carly Simon, etc) returns to reignite the special chemistry that audiences have embraced for the past four decades.

I haven't got the full album, only part of it on a French CD of Landlocked.
Isn't there a SOT version of it that has all of it, neatly packed? If I wouldn't already hav... would see that one, I'd go for it, but of course I would refrain from doing so in the last seconds, because I vehemently hate unofficial material. Hooray for the Don! I can't really get many boots here and I am not into downloading.

I don't know much behind the making of this album other than the fact it was never officially released, and it was recorded around 1977. I put this up there as one of Brian Wilson/ The Beach Boys great albums, and it's a shame that it has never been officially released.[/]

huh?
I'm confused too. I think Usher might have produced it all except for "I Do", which was produced by Brian Wilson, I don't know if that is what they meant. I don't see any confusion at all, but then I gradumecated high school: >>The track "I Do" on this CD was written and produced by Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys. << You're right, I don't know what I was thinking. I guess Iwas just focused on the Usher name.
