here's another possibility... "Think about the Days" as the first part of the suite.. that was taken from the suite and used as a opener for the cd... that added to the other two songs runs just over 7 minutes.. and it seems to flow together? just a guess doc smiley

to expect Brian to record a lp of material in a finished polished manner is just not realistic. Brian creates demos/song sketches, and that is all he's mainly done for 30 + years. Brian needs someone to finish/polish his music , be it Joe Thomas, or Scott and Darian or whoever Brian is close to at that time. Closest thing to a Brian finished production was Love You back in 1977, and even that included a ton of extra work by Carl before it saw the light of day.
I like what I've heard here so far... SV is pretty light weight, but at least it feels radio friendly.
cheers

I think the last 3 tracks comprise the suite - "Summer's Gone" is an evocative title that seems to somewhat morbidly suggest the end of one's life, and along with the other two titles, I can easily see how a suite could be woven through them. No way Capitol cuts something like that, they know that people want to hear what Brian has to offer.
Assuming we're right about this, it'll be the last Beach Boys album with a true Brian Wilson closing trifecta in 40 years. That's definitely what I'll be looking most forward to hearing.
I disagree, I think that "Summer's Gone" would not be part of the suite as this title has been mentioned before but not in any way referenced to being in a suite. I still feel IMHO that the 3 parts of the suite are likely combined to form one title ( Brian writing fragments? ) and a title like "Here and Back Again" sure has a Life Cycle like feel to it. I would have to disagree with your disagreement. Darn.. nothing worse than having our resident expert disagree with your disagreement... it certainly stacks the odds against me... but I'll leave it at that, I don't want to get all Phil about it.

ONE ADDED QUESTION:SO FAR ON THE AMAZON SAMPLE AND THE VIDEO i DO NOT YET HEAR MIKE SINGING BASS OR BARRITONE. WHERE IS THE BOTTOM AND WHO IS SINGING WHAT DENNIS AND MIKE WOULD NORMALLY SING TOGETHER? I HOPE WE CAN DO A FULL VOCAL ACCOUNTING LINE BY LINE ON THURSDAY. I CAN HEAR LOTS OF AL AND BRUCE TOGETHER AND AL AND BRIAN TOGETHER (2ND VERSE) AS IN SLOOP.
I would assume that Dave is singing what would have been Dennis and Brian is singing Carl's part... that would leave Jeffrey F. or Matt J. singing on top. If Mike is singing mid-range not bass, I would assume that another band member would be covering for him... however I think he is singing bass as well, but his voice isn't very strong anymore, so its well back in the mix. I assume it's just a way to test the waters and see what kind of demand there will be for new material. They're all talented, beautiful women, so hopefully they can find some modicum of success in the new music business economy.
wasn't that the reason the "California" cd was all covers as well??? (that water must be pretty cold )

I can't figure these girls out... they wrote their own material for the most part for the first 2 cd's and with a good producer they were very successful. Now, they haven't done a original in over 10 years?? and this new CD, I also agree.. the song selection is so uninspired...

the official (new) video seems to have a better handle on Mike Love's vocal and it doesn't sound quite as treated as before.. but the drums seem to be toned down slightly (boo) and it seems to be a new (but similar) guitar solo ( Dave this time around?)
honestly, while I like it, it seems closer to the original now , which is to say, to me, a bit boring.. the little quirks in the previous mix were rather endearing (except for ML's auto tune)

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Sign the petition to include Blondie and Ricky in the 2012 Reunion!

I signed the petition and would love to see Blondie and Ricky play with the band one more time..but, I don't expect that to happen and I don't think the petition will alter the planned reunion in any way. I look at this one way only, as a tribute to Blondie and Ricky, so if we get a pile of signatures, If they (Blondie and Ricky) see them, they will know that we fans do care and enjoyed their contribution to the legend. I don't know about Ricky, but Blondie does have a internet presence (Facebook, etc) so I would imagine he may see the list. Peace Doc Smiley
