Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: More About Brian/ Beck and New Album.

That would be 'new' as in 'newly recorded', as Brian has stated in a recent interview that none are newly-written.
Didn't he also claim that one of the songs was titled 'He Come Down'? I wouldn't take what Brian says in an interview as the gospel truth. Now it was posted that Brian confirmed that 'He Come Down' is not the same song as 'He Came Down' from CATP, but could it be a reworking of "God Did It"( I think that was the title) from the Paley sessions? I throw that out there if its true nothing is newly written...

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Blondie Chaplin to Guest with BW on Some Dates

Thanks Howie! I'm not expecting that much from the Blondie dates on this tour. If he was going to appear on all the dates I would expect a lot more but as it sits, I'd expect Blondie on stage for 3 or 4 songs in a guesting role each night and not as a preforming member of the tour. (ie on stage for the full duration) Love to be shown wrong though

much as I loved this whole project with Anton Fig, I do remember reading at the time that Brian and Blondie where never in the studio at the same time.. In fact I had read that Brian had a chance to meet Blondie in the studio during these sessions but passed on the opportunity, saying something to the effect that he didn't know Blondie. Whether that was Brian on a bad day, or that Brian really never had much contact with the outer circle of BB's from 72-74 and doesn't really know him. what I'm saying is we really shouldn't read to much into this.. Blondie was close to Carl and Dennis, and not necessarily Brian, and this visit to Ocean Way may be mainly just a nice gesture from Brian's PR team more then anything. Blondie as a active member of this Brian solo CD? Man, I'd love to hear it !

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: What if follow up to ''Holland''

depends on how long after Holland we're talkin' If your talking when Blondie and Ricki were still there I would imagine a lineup something like this... side1 River Song (dennis/blondie) We Got Love (blondie/Ricci) Good Timin' (brian/carl) Day Break (mike/al) Rainbows (dennis/carl) Carry Me Home (dennis/blondie) side 2 I Don't Wanna Know (mike/carl) Hard Times (blondie/Ricci) In The Country (al) You're Riding High On The Music (brian) Glow Crescent Glow (mike) very little Carl here.. seemed that when Jack R left, he stopped writing, as for the flow of this material, it really doesn't in its current form ... but, if it would have been produced back then (slide guitars and Grateful D influence) perhaps it could have become something more... imho Doc Smiley (no Susie Cinncinati, it was just a old B side until 15 Big Ones came around needing more oldie style material...)

And…
Al's Raspberries Strawberries Seasons in the Sun (Carl sings lead) Carnival/Over the Waves (group vocals) Walkin' (Brian and/or Al) I'm Going Your Way (Dennis) You Never Give Me Your Money (no clue)
just steppin in here to help... chorus of "In My Window" is based on the chorus of "Raspberries Strawberries" "Seasons in the Sun" is often booted Carnival/Over the Waves (group vocals) is also commonly booted, makes me wonder if "What Can The Matter Be?" isn't part of that ... music to play at a Fair suite?? "Walkin' " and "I'm Going Your Way" are on the Get The Boot set.... that just leaves "You Never Give Me Your Money" Beatle cover??

The two opposed yet (at that time) conjoined musical impulses of the band are embodied in the "Break Away"/"Celebrate The News" 45. When we get past worrying about which is "better," we can see the reason why we are all still here talking about this stuff 40+ years after the single was released. No other band has such a wide range of music that all somehow works under the collective rubric of a "band name."
I hope both tracks will be on MIC; they both deserve to make the cut.
oh oh!, Booklets go back to the printers again, looks like a June '14 release now

me bad... I should have typed it out long form... (Made In California) where did I get MAD from? no idea (a brain cramp)
As for the time needed for the booklets and such, your right, I have no idea, just seems that in 21 century, having the booklets done 135 days in advance of the release seems ridiculous. I've seen bands recording in the studio in September rushing for a Christmas release ??
don't Phil me guys, I was just speculating on a idea that I thought would be pretty cool...

Its a stretch, but why not? Because there's absolutely no evidence whatsoever that it's happened. all very true, .here's absolutely no evidence All I'd like to add is.... certain people and organizations follow this board

I look at it this way... Brian in the last couple of years has done covers of "Forever" (Dennis) and "Heaven" (Carl) with pretty decent results and I would think has heard pretty positive comments on both. The compilation of MAD has surely had some input from Brian if not song selection. If I was one of the compilers of the box and had a decent instrumental track for a song the fan boys want (IGAF) and a live version to use as a guide.. why not ask Brian to finish it? It is just as legit as the completed "Holy Man" on the POB set and as its Brian, would be even more so... To say Brian's never heard it is pure speculation as well.... Its a stretch, but why not?

pure speculation (wishing) Brian Wilson, currently in studio with Don Was, recording a lead vocal for "I've Got A Friend" so that this tune could be included in the upcoming box set. why not? stranger things have happened.
