This performance is hilarious and Al, David and Matt all look like complete gimps.
I would guess that this was one of those occasions where Carl refused to be involved and so they asked David to fake the guitar playing.
Carl didn't refuse to be involved in the Baywatch episode -- both he and Brian(!) are there (and David isn't) in the opening sequence lip-synching to Summer Of Love. But the fact that the band are referred to in the script on multiple occasions as "Mike Love and the Beach Boys" should tell you most of what you need to know...

I`m aware of that but presumably he did refuse to be involved in the rest of it as he isn`t there...

It's just so hideously embarrassing for the band that they did this dreadful sh*t. I hope it fucks up Mike's karma forever.
Just imagine what Dennis would think of all that batshit insane stuff this group pulled after his death. Mike, Bruce and Al were cheesemeisters of the world in the 80's and 90's.

Out of curiosity, I went on YouTube and found when the Beach Boys performed on Baywatch (geez, television drama has definitely improved since then). What I found strange was that this was from 1995 and Carl is not performing with the band. Mike, Al, and Bruce are there and strangely David Marks (both he and Al are sporting hideous ponytails) is there, I didn't think he rejoined the group until '97 when Carl left for cancer treatment. Anybody know why Carl wasn't there and when exactly David got involved with the group again? http://youtu.be/6r3zz_5Qc4EI have no answer but this version is way inferior to the European studio version. I love the word "cheesemeister"!

Any details of how Darlin' came to be pressed on a few copies of MMT back in the day? Has anyone here got a copy? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loRMNSN-z1U

Does a good quality version of "Mony Mony" exist? I recently discovered a cleaner, slower version of "Sea Cruise" and wondered if the same might be available of the former.

Not as far as I know - your cleaner Sea Cruise is because it was officially released on 10 years of Harmony I presume.

Out of curiosity, who runs beachboys.com? Or is it multiple people? I assume whoever it is posts on this board. Anyways, I enjoy reading their reviews.

I've recently read something that said Stephen Desper created the intro on his mix of "'Til I Die."
While I'm skeptical of this, has anybody bothered to ask him about it?

He's said so! You could always ask him, he turns up from time to time

All roads lead to Kokomo. Exhaustive research in time travel has conclusively proven that there is no alternate universe WITHOUT Kokomo. It would've happened regardless.
What is this "life" thing you speak of ?
Syncopate it? In front of all these people?!

Here's a question for you. Who thinks people who do stuff like this should be hunted down and shot? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puGXb8D5BEA

Whilst looking for some Mike songs, I found Hot Summer Lovers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PziXRLd9DNcNot a bad tune but whose is the other voice on there? It's labelled as a Beach Boys track but was this done for one of Mike's solo albums? Cheers guys

Aaaaa, that's totally amazing - would love you for to work up so it's got at least one Kanye verse on it, if you could? Is that a bit of Johnny Carson at the start too?

Yeah, that's JC Worked a little more on it so there's a Kanye verse and then some on there. If you have any suggestions/criticism, please throw it my way! https://soundcloud.com/james-stockwell-2/black-skinhead-ft-beach-boys-1

Was the audio recording of the infamous Perth 1978 shows circulating when Carl was still living? Or did it only surface after he passed? I'm wondering if he would have ever heard it.
