Donald Fagan may be a smug twat but he sure does make brilliant music.
Hahaha, you sound like AGD. Agreed, very nice album.

I know it's not their best album, but I don't think it deserves the negative reception it got (according to my friend and lukewarm reviews).
Now, I'm not super familiar with their older stuff as albums, although I know a handful of songs. This is an impetus to get into more than just their fast few albums. I'm missing Building Nothing out of Something from my music library.
I'm finally listening to
Strangers to Ourselves
for the first time all the way through. I knew and enjoyed a good handful of songs before tonight at least. Anyway, this is just me rambling... Not sure if anyone cares about the ramblings of a not-hardcore MM fan.
A few things, though: The Ground Walks is a fantastic song. The Best Room might be my favorite song off of the album. I'm still not tired of Lampshades on Fire. Strangers to Ourselves still gives me shivers because it brings me back to when I saw them live and also cellos are wonderful. So a bad album? I think not.

"Seasons" is an amazing song, but I just can't really get into anything else I've heard.
I've only heard it once all the way through, so I'm still out on it.
The first track of theirs that I heard was the album's closer, at Glastonbury (on TV).
To be continued...
Schmubbly, I've listened to it a couple of times since then and I've discovered it's that rarest of beasts-----a synthpop album with a heart. The two tracks that bookend it are stunning but the rest falls nicely into place and is never anything less than heartwarming. I like it.

Never before have I felt like an artist dared me to continue listening, only to reward my perseverance with more punishment.

Why don't you write down the album title & artist? checking the links in the quote box didn't help.

The first one is
the Seer
by Swans and the second is
Under Color of Official Right
by Protomartyr. I posted the albums and their titles in a different thread a day or two ago. If you search the images in Google by dragging the photo into the search box, they'll come right up.

Why can't the man make music as good as these anymore?
I wish I'd got into Hall & Oates years ago - what a group.

Hall and Oates are super fun. Just saw them live a bit ago—their performance of "She's Gone" was a-maz-ing.

I always forget how good this album is. What Bob's managed to do at this stage of his career is incredible.

I wish I'd got into Hall & Oates years ago - what a group.
Regrettably (perhaps) whenever I see pictures of
Hall & Oates my thoughts immediately turn to...
That said, I love Daryl Hall's
Sacred Songs
and
am always plessantly surprised by
the music the duo makes...

I was alerted to this fairly odd album by The Ig in my TV guide, of all places.

Got Sacred Songs yesterday. An excellent album. Love NYCNY which basically sounds like Daryl fronting King Crimson.

High time I revisited that album. I'd forgotten all about that track. Wow.

Reminds me of the real-life argument Fripp recorded through his hotel wall when in New York and set to music. Jack Nicholson has nothing to do with this track from Fripp's album
Exposure
----it may just be a ruse to throw the copyright police off the scent.
