I wasnt alive so this isnt just nostalgia: I think the 60s and 70s were the peak years of pop culture and nothing else comes close. Maybe a little bit of spillover into 1958 and 1980. And the ~10 year period from 1965 to 1975 was the peak of the peak.
I think 1967 was the best individual year but it's hard to narrow it down.

I love 1971, but not for the reasons the average rock critic would name. My 1971 playlist includes Another Day, Me and You and a Dog Named Boo, Signs, Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey, It Don't Come Easy, Power to the People, Nathan Jones, I'll Meet You Halfway, When You're Hot You're Hot, Chicago, Beginnings, Lowdown, Liar, Sooner or Later, Indian Reservation, Watching the River Flow, Do You Know What I Mean, Mother Freedom, Sweet Hitch-Hiker, I Love You For All Seasons, Right On the Tip of My Tongue, Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again, Me and My Arrow, I'm the Only One, Saturday Morning Confusion, Stop Look and Listen, Never Can Say Goodbye, Absolutely Right, Birds of a Feather, Stagger Lee, Imagine, Jealous Guy, Bangla-Desh, Woodstock, Day After Day, You Are Everything, Happy Xmas (War is Over), .....
