So far, as beautifully personal and enjoyable as the previous 2 volumes:

I'm listening to Paul Heaton and Jaqui Abbott's 2014 new cd called - What Have We Become. Excellent. Best release of 2014 as far as I am concerned. Paul Heaton was the leader of The Beautiful South and The Housemartins for those that recall him. This is his 4 or 5th solo cd but his solo career thus far has been quite patchy. This is a killer return to form. Check out the songs D.I.Y., Moulding of a Fool, What Have We Become to get a sample of the goodness within.

Is it just me or is "Van Dyke Parks" VDP's own reinterpretation of "Surf's Up"? The sinking
Titanic
being another metaphor for civilization, which is taken over by a wave.

If only for the album cover & your description (keyword: psych), I'll go check it out in our local file-hosting site.

Oasis - What's The Story Morning Glory. I gotta say, I'm completely dumbfounded by the amount of negative, revisionist reviews this album gets, particularly on Rate Your Music. I think it's still fantastic, one of those records that almost reads like a greatest hits compilation, just like Thriller or Nevermind.
I don't know if it's that revisionist. Some of us disliked them back then. Honestly, I'm more surprised at all the fuss made over them now, but I guess that's the POV of someone who thinks they're overrated, just as you seem to find them underrated. Hope you're enjoying the reissues, though.
I'm sure some disliked them back then, but were the opinions as polarizing when the band was at its peak ('94/'95) as they were after? With so many people calling them Beatles rip-offs with absolute no merit? I'm actually asking, not having lived through it.
Listening to Dylan's Positively 4th Street at the moment.

Big Pink has that magic only the most timeless songs have...objectively, it's the best one. The only thing missing in Richard's Organ part (Garth is on piano here), which was played in concert by Garth.
Live at the Academy December 30 is just an amazing performance of the song - The Band at their best sounds like 5 musicians projecting their entire souls through their voices and instruments - that's what this version is. My favorite.
The Last Waltz version has the Staple Singers, which is amazing. But Richard either isn't playing piano in the chorus or he was edited out...and that brings it down a notch for me.

I don't think I'm familiar with the Academy version (it's not the Rock of Ages one, is it?), but I think you're spot-on on the Last Waltz one - the song just isn't the same without that little piano run that leads the verses into the chorus. It's always about the little touches when it comes to The Band.
