Japanese EMI Catalogue numbers for the already-flagged up remasters:
TOCP-71371
TOCP-71372
TOCP-71373
TOCP-71374
TOCP-71375
TOCP-71376
TOCP-71377
TOCP-71378
TOCP-71379
TOCP-71380
TOCP-71381
TOCP-71382
All consecutive, which might suggest that other titles won't be slipped out later.
Darn…
No reason to assume that the catalog numbers must be consecutive. There have been numerous re-master programs over the years that did not release all of a band's titles en masse and/or in order.

I think it's too early to say wrote them off Phil… be optimistic. Look on the bright side. Maybe they're the albums that are going to get the 2CD deluxe treatment, or will be released with a bonus live disc…
Cripes, wish I hadn't found the catalogue numbers already…!

So, "Wild Honey", "Friends" & "20/20" are being permanently expunged from The Beach Boys Capitol back catalogue? Oh well, we've got our existing CD's. There's some fine songs on those 3 albums, and they won't be heard by future fans.
Seriously, what the f*** are you talking about Phil? Last time I check the twofers are still in print, and as far as we know, these releases might be Japan-only. So how is it exactly that they are being "expunged" from their back catalogue? Explain that to me.

Because, if those new Japan mono/stereo discs eventually become the new U.S.A. CD series, then that's what we're getting. Note: I didn't complain about the omission of the group's debut album "Surfin' Safari". The 3 hits("Surfin'", "Surfin' Safari" & "409") will obviously still be available through hits compilations. It apparently isn't possible to do a mono/stereo twofer of the "Surfin' Safari" album, since (apparently) only four of the songs can be remixed for stereo.
Anyone doubting that the Japanese CD series if for real, or what albums are included in it should be made aware that Japanese EMI has already posted a photo of the series.
and how do you know that the 1990/2001 twofers will stay in print?

Seriously, thinking about it, as this series is (presumably) part of the 50th anniversary series, does anyone think Capitol would let the original album, the one that started it all in terms of LPs) for The BBs, go out of print??? It'd be like printing a new edition of the Bible without the Book of Genesis, or releasing a complete set of Doctor Who discs without An Unearthly Child.
Whatever happens, it's going to be interesting. And
NOISY
in the meantime!

I was told never to trust photos. They are often doctored...such as that phony picture of the Smile box set....

There is also no reason to expect that they will be released in the U.S. at all.

Phil, while being himself a little here, has a few very good points...
Specifically this one,
CAPITOL. IF YOU REALLY DO READ THIS BOARD MARK MY WORDS.
IF YOU DON'T ANNOUNCE YOUR REMASTERS BY JULY 15th, WE ARE ALMOST ALL GOING TO BUY A FEW OF THE JAPAN REMASTERS, WHICH WILL BE EXPENSIVE.
IF YOU WANT TO SELL TO YOUR FAN BASE. HURRY UP. TIME IS TICKING.

S'not like that. If the CDs come out in the UK, I'll buy them all. If they're Japan-only I won't buy any. I've had two kids and chosen a less well-paid career since the last set of re-issues; while I can afford sensibly priced CD treats and the occasional gig ticket, the days when I might have bought every import and flown across The Pond to see Admiral Wilson at the helm of the Good Ship Beach Boys are gone.
So my loss but I wouldn't buy the Japanese re-issues, even just a few. Not even one. I'm sure I'm not the only one in such a situation.
So it's a European/UK series or nowt for me.
But I'm very optimistic… the very thought of these not having a general worldwide release is plain daft.

I would just repeat that we have not been promised any kind of catalog revamp. Merely a career spanning box (and these CDs do not, in any way, span the band's career) and a new greatest hits set.
CDs no longer sell well in the United States, and an extensive, new, one-album-per-disc reissue program at this point seems fiscally irresponsible.
Perhaps I'm wrong, in which case I will happily buy them all. If I'm not, I'm certainly not buying them as imports.

Okay, well seriously now...... (rampant speculation)
I wonder if EMI Japan jumped the gun? If they are making announcements like this, then it only seems normal to wonder about the same "CD product" in the USA and UK.
Optimistically, maybe this means Capitol-EMI are announcing something within 24 hours of my mark. (MARK!)
Pessimistically, it's a "slam" for the USA BB fanbase/market to be treated this shabbily by the Powers That Be.

They only released the info a month in advance. I don't think that is jumping the gun.

My thoughts also. The EMI Japan site now has individual pics of each of the releases up, as well as the composite.

And there's the problem – actually, it's just us, and even with all the other posters on all the other BBs boards, that's just a few hundred at best. We can't even threaten to vote out the President. Or the Prime Minister.
Like TSS, TWGMTR, and that tour that wasn't going to get to the UK, we just have to sit back, and trust in the powers that BB.
