Did you ever get tickets to the Tahoe show, Ivy?   Or are you going to make it to one of the other California gigs?

Well.... typing this out makes me feel like a spoiled brat but, yes, I already have tickets for Berkeley (including meet & greet) and the Hollywood Bowl. I just really don't want the BB fun to end in June!

I think this story is an April Fool's joke -- note the date of the press release. Seriously, they'd put out a press release on a SUNDAY? Also, there's not a peep about this story in OSU's student newspaper's website.

Al Jardine's FB says that they're rehearsing The Star Spangled Banner for Dodger Stadium!

Well, I'm really looking forward to hear how much their voices are in shape. I wonder if they'll do it nude acapella. That would be a very tough and brave thing to try imo, because of their ages and voices. It's getting really exciting now

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Absolutely cool that they'll be doing the anthem but I'm wondering just how they can pull off the ending.  The entire song has a mericiless range of low and high notes.  I would guess their rendition will be slightly subdued so that they are able to pull off a more quiet and controlled ending with the "And the home of the braaaave."

I'm going to email around and see what I can find out. It seems really elaborate to write up a prank like that. It's listed as an official press release on Surf Ohio's site, but I suppose that doesn't mean too much. All the info seems to check out; John Waters, Elliott Lott, Sept. 15 would be the right for alumni band day. So, I don't know. Reading those Gordon Gee quotes again, I wouldn't be surprised if they were made up. I'll get to the bottom of this, I was so excited too  Sad

I hope it's just the Boys, no Jeff. Nothing against Jeff, but this should be just the 5 of them, and whatever version they can pull off.

The talk about fonts is where it seems clear that it's a joke. Also, the reunion tour is wrapped up in August. And the AARP magazine thing seems like a joke too.

I think it is great that at this stage in their careers and lives they are facing new challenges. Like singing TSSB in front of 50.000 people.

If it's not, I'm sure it will be among the highlight videos on the Dodgers' website.

If it's a nationally televised game, or game of the week I hope, we'll all get to see it live here in the States. I'm sure they would televise the Anthem that day.

I wouldn't trust those TV exec's that decide these things Dave. A quick look on youtube of other Dodger games show only personal recordings.

I'm not sure if my post from a page or so back got overlooked, but the Dodgers' home opener will be broadcast on their local station, FSN Prime Ticket.  For every home opener, they usually have a one hour pre-game show live at the stadium, so they'll almost definitely show the anthem.  Maybe even a bit of the concert.  The game is at 1:05 P.M., PDT, so for the locals who are able to tune in, check at 12 P.M.

This was posted on facebook by the Beach Boys' anniversary group:

Quote
6 away from our 1800 fan... 4 days away from the first public performance of the reunited Beach Boys! For those of you that don't get Dodger games you can catch it on MLB.com (paid service). Of course we will post any live video as soon as it becomes available.

So maybe we'll get to see and hear it

4 days! Ay carumba!

Although.... not that this won't kick ass, but your first reunion gig is broadcast in front of billions of people. Then your second is singing one of the most notoriously difficult pieces of music known to man in front of thousands of people acapella (i presume) and on telly as well.... Are they trying to give Brian a heart attack?!  Grin

It should start with Mike sing "WWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL Oh say can you see.."

Also, if this happens I can finally die a happy and fulfilled human being.  LOL

Man, I am bummed that there's been no news on the 7/10 Denver tour date since the ticket sale date changed to TBA about 6 weeks ago. Sad
