Unless someone spent a hell of a lot of time mixing the end of "Holidays" into the unused harpsichord-esque "whispering winds" section that involves it starting in the key of "Holidays" and then changing keys into the traditional "whispering winds" key, this is gonna be bad.

Don't think so...

No, this makes no trouble (re-listen to the "Purple Chick" version, or ask for mine -which is better- in PM).

Sorry, but that's funny  LOL

Also, Fatheroftheman, what was it you were saying on the hoffman about the codas of the different SU?

Purple Chick's Holidays to Wind Chimes *does* sound pretty bad (I don't know about yours, which is probably better), as most of their mix. It's mostly a mess of time-sifhting and pitch correcting.

Umm...What in the hell is this one about?

34. Psychodelic Sounds: Brian Farts Into The Microphone (:08)
Features "Corned Beef & Pastrami Blast"

How come this song isn't listed on Amazon? I am assuming this one is an instrumental. Maybe this is the missing "Air" track we've been searching for.....

Well, don't be too harsh on Purple Chick. Remember we're talking about fans, making what they could to emulate BWPS using bootleg sources. They have been the first to do that and did it rather well IMO.

Then pitch-shifters/time-stretchers do a better job nowadays than 5 years ago when "PC" did his stuff (that also why I say pretentiously that my mix sounds "better" because I did it in 2010).

And once again, we're talking about something that never existed, or at least has never been designed to exist that way. It's just about fun and fantasy (even Mark Linett's job on the official upcoming release).

Because someone got confused. The "Brian Farts Into A Microphone" track is actually from The Beach Boys Love You Sessions.

Would I be the only one to buy BBLYS boxed set for this track alone?

I've heard that the old pitch correction was removed from the '71 mix and re-done to more accurately re-create a '66-7 feel

How did they do pitch correction in 1971, varispeed?

By "I heard" you mean "someone told me" or you mean "I actually hear a slight difference in the pitch" ?  Roll Eyes

both, plus if you speed it down by 3% it sounds much more like the '71 boys.

What I wanna see is a Coda with the lyric "The father's life is done, and the children carry on," included like it would've been in '66-7

BTW, here's a quote from Wikipedia...

Quote
The newly recorded lead vocals - sung by Al Jardine over a choral backdrop featuring all the Beach Boys - were sped up by Desper for continuity purposes in an attempt to make them sound more like they did in 1966.

That would be an excellent trick, seeing as said lyric was written in 1971.  Grin

Q1 - are we sure H&V part 1 is the Cantina mix we know because the timings are different - I know DP said so but...........

Q2 - ON IIGS and BY - do we know that they are using the full backing tracks??

All further information is from Leila's latest post on the Hoff board:

H&V part 1: presumably Cantina (with possible minor additions).
H&V part 2: presumably Part 2 variations from the Sections mix (exact structure not mentioned).

Great Shape and Barnyard: Full backing tracks with the demo vocals flown in, the piano from the demo is soft but still present.
Great Shape ends with the tape explosion and fades, Barnyard has a clean start (no cross-fade from Great Shape).

Holidays: no vocals (except "whispering winds").

Wind Chimes: basically BWPS structure - first part from the re-record, after the chorus it turns into the first version (Take 5 from SOT) with a clean ending (not fading).

Child: structure is unlike BWPS. Begins with the piano section from SOT, then the piano&bass bridge (BWPS coda), then the chorus, then the verse, then an ending chorus with additional 'Father Of The Man' high part (could be the one from BWPS).

Smile Backing Vocals Montage - includes stuff from Heroes and Villains, Wonderful, Cabin Essence, Worms, Vega-Tables and Wind Chimes. This particulary sounds incredible!  Drinking Buddies
