Hey guys - did that ever come out in a digital format? Does anyone out there have it on mp3 or some other kind of digi form? I dug up a few (hard to find, for some reason) audio tracks on youtube. But would love to have it on the good old iPod, if possible.

Not for FBI agents only: I already bought the music on vinyl back in '81, guys. So is this really theft? And btw, I'd happily buy it again if someone would get off their digi-ass and re-release it. You'll never take me alive!

Everyone else: Drop me a line at peteramescarlin@gmail.com if you have any tips.

It was reissued on CD and its for sale on amazon.

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

I suppose it would be too much to ask that for the 50th Anniversary Celebration, BRI finally launches BeachBoysCentral and offers this album as well as everything else in the vaults available for download....

It seems to be available on mp3 on a few sites, not sure if it's legal though.

Are the two albums on different labels?, because its weird they would reissue one and not the other.

There was a legal reissue of it on CD in Japan, many years ago now.

IMO the first album isn't really that good;however,I think is second album is decent but neither are great..I think Carl does better songwriting when working with synths and pianos then with guitars because for the most part the songs on the first album, which are mostly guitar based, sound the same to me with the exception of "HEAVEN" and maybe one or two more.

This was brought up earlier in the year and what we found was that on the LP there was a Brother logo on the first solo album and a lack of said logo on Youngblood. I figure BRI owns CW and Caribou owns Youngblood.

Gotcha makes sense, these albums would make a great twofer if they were on the same label.

yeah I'm guessing two different companies own the rights to it..for one reason I have managed to fit both albums on one disc with room to spare for a couple bonus tracks ("what you do to me" and "you were great how was I?" and there was no more room for any more after that) so it would make sense if one company owned both they would simply make a cool delux edition with both on it especially since his first solo album is kind of weak..

Yes, I have both of Carls cds from Japan, the original issues. I'd sell them for the right price!

I have both Carl's solo projects on vinyl, promo's actually, and I never really cared for them. Also saw the solo tour when it came to San Francisco and was disappointed the show. It was an attempt at R&B with a lot of gyrating on the part of the rhythm section and Carl being rambunctious. Smiley Smiley

You mean at the Waldorf in S.F.?  I was there too and talked to Carl between shows and had him sign my album. Told me my check was in the mail for holding up and promoting his album when he mentioned it to the audience. "Long Promised Road"  and "Heaven" were real highlights!

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

No he means the Old Waldorf nightclub by the Embarcadero in San Francisco..a great club that had numerous great shows in the 70's.

I prefer the first album, but I'm not a great fan of either.  Love Hurry Love and Heaven's okay.

We saw Carl's show at the Old Waldorf.  We really enjoyed it, a  nice small club setting, and also have to agree with the prior "R&B" description. That did give it its own feel and let Carl stretch a bit from his more usual laid-back persona  Some half-wit kept yelling after each song "it's surf time" and I wanted to remind him the Bay was right outside the door and across the street, so be our guest, you first pal.

There were actually a total of three shows that Carl did at The Old Waldorf - April 25, 1981 promoting his first album (2 shows) and the third – June 29, 1983 for the Youngblood album. I intercepted him walking in between the two shows in 1981, shook his hand, and told him "thanks for all the great music". Smiling a lot, real genuine and appreciative that I had held up his album for everybody to see during the concert. I was goofy with too much wine at dinner that night and handed him the album while he was on stage! He told me my 10 bucks was in the mail for that! I think he only played about 10 - 12 songs that night.
