This was also really good news today.. In addition to this release, The Beach Boys and Capitol/EMI will celebrate the band’s 50th Anniversary in 2012. Plans for commemorative releases and other anniversary activities will be announced.Possibly new special editions of some classic albums, I doubt it's another greatest hits

I'm hoping for all the albums released individually in both mono and stereo (new stereo mixes for songs that have no stereo counterpart) with Singles/B-sides with unreleased songs thrown into each cd..and all the brother year cds,not as two fers but individual with singles/b-sides and unreleased songs..

Not to be morbid but I think Brian and Mike are at a place where they realize they're getting old as dirt and now's the time to cash in on this stuff while they can still do promotional work and concerts. After they're gone their families will be well taken care of but they probably ought to get all the unreleased stuff OUT while they still have a chance to tour and do interviews. I know 70's not a death sentence but hell you never know.

Or maybe because it's the 50th anniversary Seriously that is such a cynical look on things

There's still some vault raiding that could be done. I think a solid double-disc set of outtakes from 1967-92 could be assembled. Dennis' early 70s stuff could be a contender. Of course, lots of live tapes.

I would like a best of live tapes (chicago 1965, Hawaii 1967, Michigan 1966) and the full Sacramento 1964 tapes.

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

Well, there's the Carnegie audio/video stuff from (was it) '72 that we already know about. (I'd have to search back a long way through threads for details but this board is probably the best source of info on that topic). I'd also bet on a stereo Smiley release. A Sunflower package. Personally I hope they release nothing, cos after the SMiLE box I'll probably get thrown out on my arse if I bring any more BBs product into the house! Which would be a shame cos I'd quite like to be here for the birth of my second kid, due January. After that though…

We need a special expanded version of the Surf's Up album!
ALL the missing tracks. ALL live versions available.
Except maybe "Student Demonstration Time."

Dude, a live version of Student Demonstration Time is a showstopper. Carl rocks out on the guitar.

I don't know about the rest of you but my 3 tons of Beachboys albums are in a nice dry room inside the house. Not in a damp garden shed!
And my GROWN children are STILL eating well on my dollar, thank you!

I'm thinking we'll get a double CD called "50 Summers"
Tracklist, something like this:
1. Surfin 2. Surfin Safari 3. Catch A Wave 4. Don't Worry Baby (2001 stereo mix) 5. Surfer Girl 6. Hawaii 7. Kona Coast 8. Keepin An Eye On Summer 9. .......
and on and on and on.....

How about just a CD single of Wouldn't It Be Nice to Live Again? If what's being said about this track by those who have heard it is even partly true, it's absurd that it has not been released.
B-sides could be cleaned up versions of the Still I Dream Of It and It's Over Now demos...

I'd really just like to hope that this means we will get "(Wouldn't It Be Nice) To Live Again", the 1974 "California Feelin'", and "Where is She?". These songs all seem SO tantalizing.

I want to see re-releases of all the capitol albums (in mono where applicable) on vinyl, with bonus records of relevant outtakes. That would rock!

I'll bet they do something like that crazy, over the top Beatles one that I think had a copy of all the albums in it. I HOPE though that they also do a bunch of other stuff, like expanded albums with unreleased tracks, or something cool like a two CD Surf's Up with one whole CD of tracking sessions or something. I prefer my cake in $20 increments

I'd like a few box sets of the Smiley Smile, Wild Honey, Friends, and 20/20 albums. Five discs per box set, please.

I want the Beach Boys to be the first major band to re-release all their albums as multi-tracks. Each album could come on a DVD, with tracking software for those who don't have it.
Just the tapes, as they are. No effects added.
I'd never leave my house again
