I want the pre-1965 mono mixes and those early seventies live shows with the symphonic orchestra. (And if possible, from the latter an orchestra-only mix of Surf's Up in order to paste that onto the TSS version!

I'd love single disc re-issues of every album through Holland. Mono/Stereo (With new remixes for Today-Wild Honey) and filled to the brim with bonus tracks. The bonus tracks should attempt to get out all of the unreleased/unbooted material and ignore the stuff already released. Examples of things I'd like to hear:
Wich Stand (As well as a ton of unreleased early Brian productions)
Session highlights/backing tracks from the SD Vol. 2 tape recovered a few years ago
Sherry She Needs Me (Highlights from tracking session + backing track)
Wouldn't It Be Nice To Live Again
California Feelin' (Demo)
Wishful thinking: Digital copies of the multitracks of Pet Sounds, Sunflower and Surf's Up.

I've got a couple DVD boots of television performances, live shows, etc. It would be nice if we could have a two disc (blu-ray) DVD retrospective on the band. So many of those 70's performances were videotaped, and it would make a nice compliment to Knebworth and the Nashville disc.
The licensing might be problematic for some of the tv performances, but there's got to be a way to get a nice vid compilation together. Okay make it a four disc set - one for each decade 'till 2000!

Were any concerts with Blondie and Ricky videotapped?

AFAIK, New Year's Rockin' Eve 1974 was the only one professionaly taped, and that only includes Ricky. Otherwise Billy Hinsche and Ed Roach captured the Blondie/Ricky incarnations.

Actually now I have a couple more ideas:
Brian Wilson Reimagines Shortenin' Bread,
Brian Wilson Presents Love You Live on Moog Synth, (On tour and with a CD/DVD release, with Jeff Foskett locked away some where)
Brian Wilson Reimagines Be My Baby,
Brian Wilson Reimagines Summer In Paradise and Looking Back With Love.

there's the Good Vibrations From London concert in 1972 as well, with the Beach Boys doing Wild Honey (Blondie on lead), Help Me Rhonda and Do It Again (and more?)

How about getting Mike Love to do all songs in the BB discography a capella in one long session?

A comprehensive DVD boxset would be nice. All the TV appearances they can find from all over the world, promo films, studio footage, interviews, and some full concerts (or as much footage as possible from each). That would tell the story of this band better than anything we've seen before. Many artists are releasing these type of packages and why never have this stuff see the light of day?

If TSS will be a success (and I guess they will be) Capitol could release something like a live album and sell some of them. I mentioned that I'd like to have a two disc set. First disc Beach Boys in Chicago '65 with Brian and second CD a show with Blondie and Ricky. After TSS there will be a demand of Beach Boys products especially among new fans. A live album is always something that people are interested in when they get into new (for them) bands. And my idea would have the early, 100% Beach Boys act plus some of their very best and most beloved era in concert. Maybe a DVD to make it complete.
That's also why a new Beach Boys album should be released.
They shouldn't release too much of the same kind of stuff. They oughta be carefull. Release live stuff, sessions etc. but not a bunch of it

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Clear thinking. Well, I guess with the Pet Sounds Sessions and the Smile Sessions, the two pillars of their heyday will have been covered superbly. And TSS will succeed, I have little doubt. And then indeed it's time for something different, people will be interested.

I actually see a 'Love You' boxset coming. It might be a few years, but I'm sure it'll happen.

Won't ever happen. And btw what would you put onto such a box ? There's not enough material

I would just throw in
Adult Child
and the various outtakes we're aware of from 1976-78. Obviously that stretches out to before and after
Love You
but then.. so does
The Smile Sessions
box set.
At best though, I guess that'd be about two discs worth of material though? Oh well, so a nicely expanded edition at least.

We'll see, but there is definitely enough demos and alternate versions for a deluxe edition at least.

Backing tracks, all the outtakes from 76-77, demo versions, all of Adult/Child...
Special edition comes with a blue bathrobe, 4 packs of Marlboro and an audio software program emulating a vintage 70s-era Moog synth.

I really want a
Love You
album cover quilt. I think Dean (or is it Jan?) has one behind him in the
Endless Harmony
documentary and I was super jealous! I was also thinking how cool it would be -- not to mention entirely appropriate -- to make the cover out of icing for a (large and elaborate) cake! Clearly I need to get married sometime soon, haha.

Chuck in a disc of the set the BBs played for industry suits in ( I think ) London around that time - bootlegged as a 2LP gatefold, black rimmed cover... was it for CBS? Upset a lot of fans cos a scheduled gig was cancelled to make way for it, if I recall…
Make it a deluxe box!

What I hope we
don't
see:
yet another greatest hits compilation with one or two new stereo remixes
a single or double disc of live rarities spread across decades
a single or double disc of studio outtakes spread across decades
What I'm getting at is this: I really hope they don't take a limited, piecemeal approach to this. If they're going to open up the vaults, why not open them all the way? Pick a single project or era, focus on it, and do it comprehensively and right (just like they've done, incidentally, with
TSS
). As much as I love the
Endless Harmony
and
Hawthorne, CA
collections, they tantalize me every time I hear them because I end up fantasizing about what has been left out. It's like backpacking across Europe in 2 days. You barely have time to catch your breath, and after a whirlwind tour of barely-glimpsed wonders, you're left feeling like Brian: all that stands out is the bread.
So count me as yet another vote for deluxe editions of individual albums. They would contain mono/stereo, instrumentals, vocals only, outtakes, session highlights, that sort of thing. That is what I would most like to see. It would be cool if they could take their time with it, do a few next year, a few the year after that, etc. Do it lovingly.
Other than the traditional albums, I would also love to see a pre-Capitol collection that includes the Wollensack tapes, the Hite Morgan sessions, the Gary Usher sessions, etc. And possibly a few stand-alone collections that focus on certain, more prolific eras (such as 1969-1970 and 1976-1977) and the unreleased album masters associated with those eras.
And of course there's live stuff – the Chicago 1965 concert(s?), Lei’d In Hawaii, Beachago, etc. My main wish for that stuff is not to see bits and bobs shoved into a “best of” live compilation – instead, release a single, comprehensive performance (or series of related performances).
(Now I’m well aware I’m speaking as a fan. I want it all, regardless of how marketable it might be for Capitol. I’m talking ideal scenarios here. For the eras that traditionally don’t sell as well – anything after 1966 basically – maybe Capitol could get creative and do some download-only releases.)

They should do SURFER GIRL first then. Almost perfect album, and it would be completely different than the box sets (pet sounds, tss) that they've done recently. Extra disc with all kinds of relevant stuff. Mike would love it, too.
