Agree 100%, his pictures are so funny and well made.

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

Thing though, AGD, is that a lot...a LOT...of people aren't bright enough (pun not intended, but glad I just realized the punnery!) to realize that the flash is unneccessary

These would be the people who take flash shots at a fireworks display, yes ?  That always cracks me up.  Grin

So why are they so uptight about photography etc. now, especially given that fan pictures and videos are shared by whoever runs BW's Facebook page? The only thing I can think of is maybe Brian's eyes were particularly weak or something that night, and they wanted to make sure he wouldn't get temporarily blinded by bright flashes, rendering him unable to see his prompter clearly...I dunno...

Small point I'd like to make here - absolutely no need for flash in the first place. The stage lights are more than sufficient, even without upping the ASA rating to 200-400. Took the following at the RFH, 2/20/04 on a three-year-old 2.1MP Olympus, set to auto from about row 6.

... and the 2007 TLOS premiere:

OK, not outstanding, but all taken without flash.

AGD...trully a renaissance man!

I wonder if the "as close as we can get" disc one.
I wonder will it feature a dozen stand alone songs
with the best mixes and overdubs available

or will it be an attempt to create suites ala Brian
Wilson's 2004 solo version.

What does the smart money say on that ?

Is there a third option? I can't really think of one
I figure it has to be one or the other, more or less.

@vintage music: my prediction is same lineup as bwps but separate banded tracks. I just don't see how the tracks can be segued together in a satisfatcory way but happy to be proved wrong if they give it a go.

The only way to make this box set sell is to include a sheet of blotter acid with SMiLE designs. It will keep you obsessives busy for a while and prevent a few online homicides. And who knows, if the average man on the street drops acid and hears Al Jardine making orgasm noises he might smile too and it will all seem worthwhile.

Listening to SMiLE on acid.........aaah, those were the days!

If you've never done acid, then you're wise,  it screwed with my head permanently...

However, if you've never heard SMiLE on acid, then you've never heard SMiLE.

I don't want to start that whole drugs debate again, but unless you've done acid, then you have no idea how good music can sound. Imagine if music was something you could touch, and climb inside, and explore tactilely. Imagine doing that with SMiLE!

I would never touch the stuff again, but it was incredible.

I realise these sort of comments make some people uncomfortable and angry, so here's the disclaimer, if this pisses you off, use your scrollbar.I'm not telling people to take acid and never would.

But I'd love to hear other (ex) acid heads thoughts on SMiLE and listening to it whilst tripping.

Who'd be pissed off by this? Acid makes music and especially an album like SMiLE much more enjoyable. It gets so much deeper when trippin'. It's like every single note is special

I've never done acid, but I have done my share of mary jane which certainly make (psychedelic) music sound A LOT better, so I can only  imagine what acid will do!

I think it's better and for some people, a lighter drug than mary jane (at least for me). I only get panic anxiety attacks on that stuff.

Oh, I've had experiences where I could hold music and mould it like dough, and the sound would change as I did it. Also where it became like a tent, or cloak that I could climb inside and wrap around myself.

The obvious is were I could hear every single note and instrument in complete clarity, and every instrument seemed to be coming from a different direction, like surround sound but a million times better, and this was from the mono tracks!

Do You Like Worms was my favourite trip track, and I once listened to it on endless repeat for about 3 hours. I only know this because I was talking into a dictaphone (you need a companion). I still have those tapes and they are fascinating and funny. Describing what it's like to see behind the universe with the strains of Plymouth Rock behind.

Sounds awesome. It was on acid that I discovered that Wonderful is the most incredible song ever written angel Listened to it for like an hour. Oh, what a blessing that song is.

But I don't want this to become a drug discussion again.

A question: I want to know on which session He Gives Speeches was recorded. One of the H&V sessions?

Well, talking about how acid can "mould your mind" to bring every little detail out of Smile (and other music) is quite fascinating in my opinion - and it sure as hey beats reading all the pessimism and constant bickering.

I'm not sure which session it was recorded in (I'm sure AGD knows), but I love that tune.

Back on track, how about them Beach Boys and Smile, eh???

The best info I have (and it's semi-informed speculation, to be honest) says at the 9/1/66 "GV" session at Western. Maybe the box will clear this up.
