I just woke up from a dream where I was at a department store and people were fighting over bonus pre-release SMiLE discs. You could buy disc one of The Smile Sessions for $17.99 and it came with a code to see the track listing (online) of the boxset. I looked at the price and set it back in the bin....apparently even my subconscious is trying to tell me not to spend a lot of money on this thing Wink

The only way to make this box set sell is to include a sheet of blotter acid with SMiLE designs. It will keep you obsessives busy for a while and prevent a few online homicides. And who knows, if the average man on the street drops acid and hears Al Jardine making orgasm noises he might smile too and it will all seem worthwhile.

Is that suppose to be funny?   It's not.

Only four posts in and you've laid an egg already.

I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

Don't pay 'em any attention, our eyes are on the real prize - that's all that counts. This kind of negativity vibe seems to be par for the course when groups of people get excited about Smile and start talking about it.

4 posts. Makes you wonder if it's a regular poster using an alternate alias used exclusively to make smart-ass remarks and not be recognized. Seems to be a few of those here with 1-5 posts with dumb remarks.

There's some funny guys on here and also wanna-be funny guys, Guitarfool. The wanna-be's and dumb asses should just be ignored.

I agree, Mikie. It happened before, so it's kind of easy to spot the patterns when it shows up again.

Last week, I attended both The Beach Boys and Brian Wilson concerts.  The thing that surprised me (although I guess nothing in Beach Boys land should be surprising), was that neither act mention SMILE at all.  Brian performed "Heroes And Villains", but no mention of SMILE.

On a side note, at the Brian Wilson show, Jeff spent the entire concert scanning the small audience for people holding up digital cameras.  When he spoted one, he would motion to the side of the stage and have one of the tour managers go out into the audience and scold the person.  Then during the intermission, Brian sat down in a chair on rollers at the side of the stage in full view of the audience.  He seemed perfectly content, but Jeff went over and pulled the chair with Brian in it back out of view.  It reminded me of the autograph signing I attended for "The Lucky Old Sun".  Somebody handed Brain a pickguard and as he was begining to sign it, Jeff just about jumped over the table to stop him yelling that Brian didn't want to sign musical instruments.  It was a good thing Jeff reminded Brian that he didn't want to sign the pickguard, because Brian had obviously forgoten.

This kind of thing bothered me too. I've seen the same kind of thing happen at Brian's shows too, with the same level of anger directed to fans by one band member. There's such a thing as being cool to the fans, and in this digital age, I ask the question:

Who the hell is going to profit from a concert video shot by a fan on a fucking cel phone or mini-digi-handi-cam? Why focus so much attention on this to the point of near-obsession? If people record the show with a camera, so what? Seriously, it's 2011, it's not the episode of "What's Happening" when Rerun gets caught up with a group of seedy bootleggers who want him to tape a Doobie Brothers show for profit.

I don't get the level of anger with the camera thing, and it's been happening for years.

Its free publicity on youtube of the live show, in my experience, videos of Brian made in the last two years got me hyped up to go see him because the videos showed his improving voice and the great live show put out by the backing band.

Does it honestly surprise anyone here that Jeff Foskett rained on the parade? The man doesn't even like Love You.

My first post here.

I love Brian’s BWPS album, and I saw him and the band performing it in Los Angeles, Disney Hall, November 2004.  Incredible, awesome concert.  “Awesome” is an overused word, but, yeah, freaking awesome!

I am looking forward to the The Smile Sessions because of the perspective it will lend to the BWPS version.  Also, not having heard much of the various boots, I am sure TSS will be incredible, when it arrives.

Nice to hear, from this board, that it’s “in the works”.

Welcome to the board, i haven't listened to much of the boots either, but when I listened to the samples of SMiLE off the 30th anniversary box set, I felt a cool and mystical vibe off the recordings that i didn't when I listened to the BWPS. (which is still great, by the way.)
