Is there going to be any video releases relating? I havent heard anything but am sort of out of the loop.

Cant believe we only a month away. Im not sure if I should preorder from amazon or go to school early and pick up a copy from Best Buy. They usually carry boxsets which is what I am after. They have exclusives sometimes but who knows. Prolly knot

There was a piece about The Beach Boys reunion in The Rolling Stone I saw today. It mentioned the boxset including stoned talk on the 'Our Prayer' sessions, the drugged out 'Water Chant', and CD's full of Heroes and Villains/Good Vibrations sessions. Nothing remotely interesting....nothing that we already knew. And nothing that would really entice people to buy it.

It did mention that the Beach Boys were to play in a lot of amphitheaters next year....I'll have to re-check to see if they mentioned Brian joining.

I think the interview with Sean Penn was a longer piece than this article LOL. What a sh*t magazine.

*whoops, just saw Earcandy posted about this in a separate thread Lips Sealed

Yeah I saw that on-line, insanely boring piece..

Pink Floyd, Nirvana all got the proper treatment for their releases, I hope Capitol do the same for SMiLE

Agreed. Pink Floyd get's the front page of this magazine, I'm hoping SMiLE does too....I mean, it's The Beach Boys!!!! They have the #2 record of all time according to that magazine - and if this were a Beatles lost album this thing would've been all over the press MONTHS ago - and it wouldn't've stopped gaining hype....damn Beatles and their hipness Grin

People would be going nuts if they found a lost beatles album. Also, liking your Beach Boys song mixes on youtube.

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

I've been saying since the first press release if SMilLE doesn't get the RS cover I give up on that magazine altogether

I've given up on that hope, now I at the very least expect a decent 4-5 page spread

Not gonna happen. The coverage wad was blown for BWPS -- I doubt the coverage will be as extensive as it was in 2004, fair or not.

That makes sense....I forgot about the BWPS aspect of it all - so along with Shady I'll be satisfied with a 4-5 page spread - and a small blurb on the front.

Still, it would be great if the front cover were nothing but the SMiLE shop!

I do hope that Capitol has some sort of high-profile plans for this ... hard to know what it is, with the date bearing down on us, though. I mean, the Facebook page is nice and all ...

They only realised a few hours ago that they should probably let people know that added two Smile tracks to the facebook page..... over two weeks ago..

Agreed. Last I checked the boxset was selling fine on amazon (due to us hardcore fans), but if they want the numbers for the 1 & 2 cd set to rise, they may want to consider getting their promotion machine rolling.

@shady - LOL I noticed that too - perhaps we are in trouble Grin

Wasn't that just Brian's folks posting that link? They wouldn't be spearheading the promotion -- or at least they shouldn't.

I just put a fan mix together,

Our Prayer/Gee
Heroes and Villains (Alternate Version, except instead of False Barnyard it ends with Vega-Tables Fade)
Vega-Tables (from Box)
Fire (with intro)
Cabinessence
Do You Like Worms (Fade out during steel guitar part)

Good Vibrations
Wind Chimes
Old Master Painter/You Are My Sunshine
Wonderful
Child Is The Father of The Man
Surf's Up

No attempt to shove every last piece in, just a clean 30 minutes, 12 tracks. I based it roughly on the Smiley Smile tracklist, which I think serves as a good template. It has a good flow.

At the very least we can expect this kind of spread:
