Looks cool ; makes me wish I was a real collector and not just a regular fan. I won't have the money for this thing at all. It's hard to save up $200 when daily what little there is goes to other things. On release date I'm just going to meditate and get into a very remote sensing sort of state and materialize in Andrew G Doe's secret Beach Boys shrine room so I can enjoy the box set with him. Invited myself over, of course.

Remember Ghost, there is supposed to be a 2 CD version.  Maybe that will suffice until Christmas/Hannukah/Kwanza....?

 Grin

True I forgot about that. I guess I could pass on a bag of vegetables for the 2-CD set instead, eh?

Somebody just showed Mike a picture of the box set during a concert, it stopped him in his tracks

I'd love to find a real-hair reproduction of Mick Fleetwood's grey ponytail in any future lavish Fleetwood Mac set.

This might sound a bit stupid but regarding the poster, wonder if it will be packaged inside the box. How would it be it inserted without bending etc

The poster will probably have to be folded, I guess.  Hope that there's a way to buy an unfolded copy of the poster, though.  A crease-less version would be suitable for framing.

Exactly.

I plan on framing it and the slightest bit of damage will bother the hell out of me..

Imagine having to contact amazon or your record shop and being put through the process of returning the box etc.

What a nightmare

If worse comes to worse, I suppose that we can try something like this...

"How to Get Rid of Fold Marks on a Poster"
http://www.ehow.com/how_5949133_rid-fold-marks-poster.html

I'm hoping, though, that the poster will also be available separately (and shipped in a standard tube, of course).

The poster could be an in-store promo item, rather than part of the box set. Or both....

Does anybody know what session tape #218 is? It's peaking out from behind the vinyl cover and I can't find it in the Good Vibrations Box vault picture ...

Looking at the LP's, both appear to be identical.

Also there appears to be a long track starting the LP, followed by a shorter track.

I think it has to begin with Prayer, movements or not.

So....

I think these are dummy LP's just for the photo.

I'd say so. The finished product is now no doubt being churned out by hand by monks chained to Macs and presses in a secret plant somewhere in Germany.

most certainly.

Also, I don't think banding would necessarily rule out the "movements" theory, seeing as my copy Pink Floyd's DSOTM has banding and still has seamless track changes.

Thanks for the explanation. I would say they are likely as not to be dummies for the photo.

I think those are dummy LP's. Even the 45 rpm's have banding. I hope we get a press release and a (possibly detailed) tracklist soon!

Heroes and Villains Part 1 on one side and Part 2 on the flip side of a single. Now THAT would really be something. Rumored to be conceptualized that way by Brian at one point, right?

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

one of the classic smile rumors. Mike Love supposedly played a two part version of the song for a reporter. That's the oft-repeated story, so one wonders if they actually came up with an extended mix. Perhaps Bruce had it on acetate all along?

Long post alert

The long awaited release of the Brian Wilson and Beach Boys masterpiece, Smile Sessions. With the full participation of original Beach Boys Al Jardine, Mike

Love, and Brian Wilson, Capitol/EMI has, for the first time, collected and compiled the band's legendary 1966-'67 sessions for the never-completed SMiLE

album. Rolling Stone magazine recently called SMiLE "the most famous unfinished album in rock & roll history."

In several sessions between the summer of 1966 and early 1967, The Beach Boys recorded a bounty of songs and drafts for an album, SMiLE, that was intended to

follow the band's 1966 album, Pet Sounds. The master tapes were ultimately shelved, and The Beach Boys' SMiLE has never been released. Drawn from the

original masters, SMiLE Sessions presents an in-depth overview of The Beach Boys' recording sessions for the enigmatic album, which has achieved legendary,

mythical status for music fans around the world.

SMiLE Sessions' physical and digital configurations include an assembled collection of core session tracks, while the box set delves much deeper into the

sessions, adding early song drafts, alternate takes, instrumental and vocals-only mixes, and studio chatter. SMiLE Sessions invites the listener into the

studio to experience the album's creation, with producer, singer and bassist Brian Wilson's vision leading the way as he guides his fellow Beach Boys, singer

Mike Love, drummer Dennis Wilson, lead guitarist Carl Wilson, rhythm guitarist Al Jardine, and newest member Bruce Johnston (who'd replaced Brian Wilson in

the touring group during 1965), through the legendary sessions.

Artwork for all of the SMiLE Sessions' physical and digital configurations has been created with and inspired by Beat-Pop artist Frank Holmes' original 1967

LP sleeve art and booklet designs intended for the SMiLE album. With its three-dimensional shadowbox lid, The SMiLE Sessions box set offers a whimsical peek

inside the storied SMiLE Shop.'
