Not a bad setlist at all for what we could have gotten.  Very cool to see a song like The Little Girl I Once Knew in there that wasn't played a lot.  But I was surprised that Please Let Me Wonder and I Just Wasn't Made For These Times didn't make it - two of the better Brian songs from the shows.  And I really liked Darlin' and Ballad of Ol' Betsy.

We definitely could hold out hope for a Target/Best Buy/Walmart/etc special release with a lot more bonus material or even some more tracks on MIC.  The Japan version also might have some extra stuff.

Well, it is good to see someone came to their senses. The 21 tune disc was anemic. I wsould rather spend my money on a legit release than buy cd-rs. That said, it's a little late! Better late than never!

And I'll trade the "Pet Sounds" instrumental for something else. I know it makes Brian's musicians shine and it's OK, but just not sure it belongs on this live album. Maybe Brian's idea?

It's one of David's only two spotlights (unless they use a version of Hawaii with him singing, which I doubt), it made a good opener for the second half, it's from the band's most famous album... makes perfect sense to have it on there to me.

Well, we have Pet Sounds on Brian's Pet Sounds live CD. That's good enough for me. Think Dave also sings Getcha Back, dudn't he? Think I saw him sing on that in the C50.

And damn, just noticed This Whole World is missing too.  THAT was a must have in my book.  Beggars can't be choosers.  No whining!

I'm happy about Pet Sounds being on it, because David really brought something unique to the guitar part, lots of great licks and variations - the Pet Sounds Live thing just has Walusko playing the original part.

Nice tracklist. No major complaints in light of what we already have. The Chiba Cottonfields will work just fine with absence here.

I also get putting the hybrid tracks on there. Both *Carl and Dennis should be represented in some way, shape or form on this live album, and GOK is about as big as it gets in terms of a BB classic. As much as I love rarities, it would've felt odd without it.

* (Assuming they're not using one of the Brian-sung GOKs. Which I doubt they would)

I wonder if the versions of Do It Again, California Girls, and Sail On Sailor are the ones from the Isn't It Time EP?

"God Only Knows" and "Forever"? Strange choices for an exclusively audio experience, but hay. Tracklist is purty cool overall.

My ONLY complaint is no "Don't Worry baby".  It's a HUGE song for them and my second favorite, just behind "Wouldn't It Be Nice" and Jeff's been doing it for so long, it would have been nice to have an official pro sound quality recording in the catalog.  And for the Jeff haters out there, don't you think it's inclusion would have made more sense than "Why Do Fools Fall In Love"Huh  The latter sounded GREAT last year but the former is SO much more important and the choice between the two is rather surprising/dumbfounding.

That said, I'm REALLY looking forward to this.   w00t!

Nah, don't worry. 'Don't Worry Baby' (sic) will no doubt be one of a couple of bonus tracks on the Japanese Toshiba issue of the set. You just will have to fork out triple the U.S. price, but any self-respecting fan would do that gladly, no?

OUCH!

w00t! Great! I never gave up hope for a Live CD set from the 50 Tour. I'd still like to see an expanded mini-box (like the recent Fifty Big Ones box) with 3 CDs and additional material. You can bet other songs were mastered for release but didn't make the cut.

I'm missing Cottonfields, It's OK and well, all of the others!

I think if 2-CD set sells good we'll see and expanded set show up somewhere.

Thank you Beach Boys and Capital Records!

I go the other way. More important to have on the audio, however the DVD works too. Great that Dennis and Carl get a nod for any 50th product IMO.

But without the visuals, I feel like it might come off as a little more odd and not nearly as effective. True on the latter point, however.

No Please Let Me Wonder OR This Whole World? Those were two of my absolute highlights! Sad Can't complain too much though, that's a pretty good track list overall.

No Cottonfields is the biggest let down for me, Al sounded GREAT on that!I'm convinced Mike will not let them put out another release or do a concert without Why Do Fools Fall In Love?

Yeah not only did Al sound great but so did the band.  Scott was laying down some nice country licks on that B-bender.  This will be one tune I'll miss on this CD along with "I Just Wasn't Made For These Times" but I am more than pleased with what's there.

It's gotta be some kind of BB record for most number of different lead vocals on an album, albeit a 2disc:

1. Brian
2. Mike
3. Carl
4. Dennis
5. Al
6. Bruce
7. David
8. Scott

I'm glad they included "Why Do Fools Fall In Love". That song rocks live and I predict that song will be a highlight on the album.

Jeff doubled Scott on Fools (and is essentially co-lead vocalist on half the others) so that's nine.

Keep the Summer Alive!

I'm pleased overall with the track selections and sequencing.  41 out of the 61 songs featured throughout the tour are there, with some of the weaker (but still good) performances left off.  I think, though, that Al continues to get the short end of the stick here.  He should have had at least one more featured lead like Cottonfields or Come Go With Me or California Dreamin.  Going off of GoofyJeff's list, here are the 20 songs that were cut:

This Whole World
Come Go With Me
Darlin
Good Timin
It's OK
Ballad of Ole Betsy
Still Cruisin
Our Prayer
I Just Wasn't Made For These Times
Let Him Run Wild
California Dreamin
Summer's Gone
Dance Dance Dance
Please Let Me Wonder
Kiss Me Baby
All Summer Long
Don't Worry Baby
You're So Good To Me
Do You Wanna Dance
Cottonfields

If I were told I could add 5 of these, and drop 5, I'd add Cottonfields, IJWMFTT, Please Let Me Wonder, Calif Dreamin, and Come Go With Me.  I'd drop WDFFIL, Wendy, Don't Back Down, TLGIOK, and Hawaii.  But overall, I like the tracklist!

Haven't posted in a while, but decided it was worth saying that this tracklist is fantastic!  I'm really excited that we're getting a purely audio live album.  Time to relive the memories!

Don't laugh. It's goona happen! "Why didn't they include the "Good Vibrations" from the Beacon Theatre in NYC? It's better than the one on the DVD!" Or "Man, they shoulda included the version of Rhonda from the Cuthbert Theatre in Oregon instead of the one on the DVD"!

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!
