Ah, such a great album.... and "Box of Rain" means a lot to me. You know what, I'll put it on right now. It's been a while.

Ah, nice! I just gave this one a spin last week. Found it during my last visit to South Africa last month.

As you can see, I've been listening to The Zombies a lot lately. They should have been a bigger success than they were.

Great choice, Rei. Any go-to favorites on each?

If you like Colin's voice, you should check up his 1st solo albums, circa early to mid-70s. And/or songs under Neil MacArthur nom de plume.

I like O&O--really like it, in fact, but I think in the past decade or so it has gone from criminally underrated to (dare I say?) overrated.

I accidentally stumbled upon it via Amazon Mp3 store years ago, listened to some samples, downloaded it, and had that same Pet Sounds reaction to it. I don't think it has become overrated in recent years, I think due to the advent of the digital era more young people have to access it....and thus it has gained a lot of popularity in recent years.

It's without a doubt one of the finest collections of pop songs ever recorded.

There is still some meaning to the idea of undervalued/overvalued in a conversation between friends. Am unsure what impact it ever had on human beings past perhaps a despicable future dystopia run by half cut Internet music journos. Don't you dare listen to What's Goin On, here Here My Dear.

Most importantly, (under- or over-) rating of anything is irrelevant to the music itself. It's just the dipshit listeners doing the rating.

Right. All Music thinks Billie Holiday let herself down. Billie Holiday remains Billie Holiday. Two and a half stars and a snarky 300 words are worth sh*t all. Fun for the convo, generally worth little to the world.

No I agree, just that any personal anxiety about over or under rated is probably unnecessary. Only real benefit outside of some unspecified (by me) academic context is the enjoyment of the famous/overlooked thing for the individual.

I quite like in particular She's Not There, Summertime and Work N' Play from Begin Here and Butcher's Tale (Western Front 1914) and Time Of The Season from O&O. Also, Imagine The Swan which is not on either album. Odessey in particular is one of those albums that is good all around and is hard to pick favourites aside from the standouts.

I also heard that Rod Argent had a successful solo career too. Wouldn't mind checking it out (Colin's and Rod's)
