I'm buying Al's album on a physical CD because I want it in a more tangible format than digital downloads.

Without wanting to disrespect Al (coz he's great), i aint going to rush out and buy his cd if he can't even be bothered writing an album's worth of new material. I mean, i've already got California Feelin, Honkin Down The Highway, etc. I mean... what's the point in redoing 'em? Other than a lack of quality new material. This - and the groups reimagining of Do It Again - are the reasons i've a horrible sicky wicky feeling in my stomach re the forthcoming new album.

In fact, this re-recording of their catalogue is similar to the way in which Hollywood keeps endlessly remaking films that were already perfect to begin with...
You're aware of the fact that the Beach Boys are recording brand-new songs for the reunion album?

I don't do downloads (not out of any high and mighty principle, i just don't know what i'm doing re technology), so it's either cd or vinyl or nothing for me...

Yes. I'm also aware they've just re-recorded Do It Again.

Although you may already have California Feelin', which I assume is Brian's version, Al's version is way, way better and well worth getting.

If you can post on a message board, you should be able to handle the complex technology of downloading!

No, its David Crosby as far as I'm aware and Glen is only on the title track. But yes, another guest star on Al's album.

Yes, I've read Glen is a guest on California Dreamin', & the Amazon sample sure does sound like him.

Friends of Al on Facebook would have now been notified of a release party for the CD on Tuesday March 20th at The Roxy - Really wish I lived over the pond

I really wish I lived over the dessert!

From the Brit site.

Al Jardine's CD is now AVAILABLE
Posted on April 1, 2012 at 10:12:12 PM by Panayiotis

Hey everyone--

Just got an email from Rob Christie from Robo Records. They're re-releasing Al Jardine's POSTCARD FROM CALIFORNIA CD with three Bonus tracks..and it's now avaialble...

Here's his note to me:

_________

Newbury Comics is sending out autographed copies (signed on the cover) of the new Jardine CD, with the 3 bonus tracks. It's a pretty limited number, so they will probably go quick. However, it's a pretty reasonable price for an autographed disc. Check it out: http://www.newburycomics.com/rel/v2_viewupc.php?storenr=103&upc=103-1663765N

__________

So, if you want an autographed copy..better move quick!!

A mere trifle…

More importantly, for some reason Amazon US isn't listing the bonus tracks other than on the downloadable version.  I hope this is nothing more than a failure to use new info for the new product…

Probably, amazon.co.uk doesn't even have a track listing for the CD but has all 15 tracks for the downloadable version. I got the CDR when it first came out so slightly aggreived that have to buy it again but it has bonus tracks so I simply cannot resist.

Good spot Paulos…  I don't mind shelling out again, but wonder what'll happen when he decides to make all the earlier/alternative mixes available…

Curious to know why Al's slightly tweaked the playing order, by slipping Cali Dreamin' before the original last track. Glen Campbell's vocal sounds excellent.

I noticed the running order and thought it was a mistake by amazon but just checked aljardine.com and that shows California Dreamin' as track 12 and refers to WOL & SJB as 'special bonus tracks'. I wish Al had included his solo version of California Saga: California on this release - I've only ever heard the snippet on Endless Harmony DVD and the ESQ CD that it was released on is no longer available.
