another question:  do we know what was recorded 5/18?  I thought the tapes we've heard thus far were 5/16 (the GV box set version) and 5/17 ("Part 2, day 2"J) - the "bird noises" version.

The intro to CD1/18 is the 'water' chant, also recorded 10/29/67.

Bicyclerider's question is also answered in the Sessionography. According to that, the first day on LTSDD was May 16th, the 'Part 2 Second Day!!!!!' stuff with bird noises was begun on May 17th, and work *continued* on that track in some way on May 18th.

The May 19th session was then cancelled, but I think that's been known a while, right?

Nope; I certainly don't hear the extra vocals. There's a really high F note at the end that gives it away, but it's not anywhere to be heard on the box.
