Those dates weren't "incorrect" when they were posted -- they came straight off Capitol's schedules. Yes, the dates changed, but that doesn't mean the website was "wrong." That said, I hope it comes out in September too.

Thing is though, none of the other dates went backward. If October 4th is the new date, then I doubt that a September date is possible. I'll bet the artwork issues held it up this time around.

Hey, I hear ya.  Yes, some people told us "summer," which means September 20 or earlier, but, really, folks, it's no big deal if it comes out a couple weeks after summer.   In the grand scheme of things, a couple more weeks is nothing.  Sure, we all wish it were coming sooner, but October 4 is great.  It's awesome.  We're talking less than 12 weeks from now.  Think about it...  18 weeks have passed since the box was officially announced... so we're well past the hump.

Your negative attitude is getting real old. Be advised. NO release date is cast in stone. The dates are goals set my Capitol/EMI - probably by their Sales & Marketing department. Sometimes dates "slip" in the schedule for many different reasons. I know, because I've worked in the R & D and Production/Manufacturing areas for the past 30 years. The Smile Sessions release date has been set two or three times prior and it was more than likely too aggressive of a schedule to maintain and get everything just right for us.

So please keep it to yourself regarding your dissatisfaction with release dates. Smile will be released soon enough. Patience. Waiting a couple more months ain't gonna kill ya. Meanwhile, you post on this thread just about every day that you have a hard-on waiting for SMiLE to come out. If you're jonesing about this Smile release, go listen to your Smile bootlegs to get your fix! Otherwise, October 4 (or longer) is going to be a loooong wait for you.

Still, for all your defenses of Capitol: SHould they fail to release a set of this magnitude before the cut-off date to be considered for a Grammy, and furthermore, missing it by less than a week, it would make them seem complete idiots in the eyes of everyone in the industry.
 Given that it should be considered, there's ABSOLUTELY NO REASON they can't have it ready for release. No excuse is good enough. At this moment they have more than two months. So they have to push a little harder here and there; so what?

I don't see a problem with the optimism but I think the slipping of release dates (especially when no official date has been pegged) is probably par for the course. Let's be grateful that is looking like it really is coming out, and relatively soon too!

Just a snippet, a tiny bit of news would be great. I'm a little tired of speculation. The say no news is good news, but is that true of SMiLE?

Here's a question for you though......hypothetical of course!

What would be worse?

1) The SMiLE sessions are cancelled.

2) The SMiLE sessions are released, but you've heard everything on it. There is nothing new, and no chance of anything else being discovered, that's it, it's over, time to get on with your life.

I'd rather it stayed unreleased, life without hope is no life.

Who's being negative? I'm optimistic that it's still coming out on the schedule we've been told from the beginning, and the one AGD has been "predicting" for quite some time. How is it negative to question the fourth date that one site has listed. I don't know what the deal with it is and I don't really care, until we hear something official I'm not going to put too much stock in every date listed around the net, there's been many dates so far listed between may and october now and none of them have so far had anything backing them up. So I reserve the right to be skeptical and even optimistic that the late summer date is still possible. I don't consider that being negative.

Also, people need to stop policing this thread for skepticism and negativity. I don't really give a flying fart if my attitude is getting old to you. If I want to be skeptical I will be.
