Does the later stuff still have doo wop influences? Obviously there's 'Gee' on Smile and maybe a doo wop influence on Add Some Music. How about the 1970s?

Obviously In The Still of The Night, Blueberry Hill, Come Go With Me etc... If you mean originals...Getcha Back has a heavy doo wop influence.

Wipe Out has a doo wop influence. And YES, Wipe Out existed. Don't try to act like it didn't exist.

Most of their albums have a doo wop influence. Even something like "This Whole World" - the way those b/g vox are arranged probably would have been totally different if it weren't for the vocal group harmony sound of the late 50s and early 60s. Obviously 15 BO has them covering from the oldies era, so that is the easier example to cite. Much of LY has a malt shop, doo wop influence - the circular pattern of Mona, for instance. The street corner harmony of The Night Was So Young.

"Wontcha come ou tonight" also has a very doo wop influence, more clearly the intro/"hook" which sounds very much like Mike's style. You can also hear/feel that on "Daybreak over the ocean". "Kokomo" is another example. I believe Mike himself mentioned that the chorus was inspired by Leiber & Stoller's "Smoky Joe's cafe". All in all I'd say the R'n'B/Doo wop influence came mostly from Mike who probably turned Brian on to that stuff. Carl on the other hand seemed to be more into Rock'n'Roll.

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

"Graduation day" doesn't have very much to do with Doo wop. At least not the version the Beach Boys were influenced by.

Sure it does, all the repetitive stuff over and over again, the really cool over the top "wah wah wahhhhhh" it's very doo woppy. He was asking for later stuff, so that fits imho.

And of course the most recent single has a doo-wop influence - pick up on Mike's bass line for eg…
