The '85 album fascinates me. I can't say I'm a fan completely; I only like 5 songs on it. But it is the last Beach Boys album with more than one good song on it (for me anyway) until TWGMTR. While there are two Brian tunes on '85 that I enjoy, the album really belongs to Carl.

Anyway, neat footage. 'I'm So Lonely’ is one of those two Brian tunes I mentioned above. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person that loves that song.

You're not the only one Summer_Days. I love 'I'm So Lonely' too. Probably my favorite song on the album

I really like the BB85 album. I didn't at first. I used to have a hard time with the 80s production. But it doesn't bother me now. Lots of great songs on it.

A very affecting ballad. Such a great delivery from Brian. One of his best from the 1970's. Very moving. FIVE

Today's song is It's Trying to Say.

Joyful indeed. I dig the bouncy happy feel about it, great backing harmonies as usual and Dennis' gruffy voice is very cool. Another two minutes of fun. FIVE

Today's song is Games Two Can Play.

Neat simple arrangement and production, and good humored lyrics make for a fun two minutes. FIVE

Today's song is Shortenin' Bread.

Unlike with the last song we discussed, Carl now appears to be totally into it. I dig his gritty vocals, and also Brian's bass voice. Better than the L.A. version. FOUR

Today's song is Everybody Wants to Live.

Carl sounds like he's not into it. His vocals seem slurred too, and it sounds like he's stuttering at one point "y-y-your gonna have to prove it to me" (about 1 minute 20 seconds into the song). The lyric about the cigarette is somewhat amusing. The chorus isn't too bad I suppose, best part of the song. Not their greatest. TWO.

Little Honda. Mostly I have the punky sounding fuzz-tone going through my head. Love that sound.

Today's song is It's Over Now.

A very beautiful and melancholy ballad with great horn and string arrangements by Dick Reynolds. When I first heard this track (from the 30 years of good vibrations box) I thought Carl sounded a little drunk but apparently it was due to a tape-speed fault (it's still very effective that way). It sounds corrected on MIC. Either way, big FIVE!

Today's song is H.E.L.P is on the Way.

A goofy but enjoyable tune. Not one of my favorites but I like putting it on occasionally. Three.

Today's song is Life is for the Living.

It's a fun song, cracks me up!  Sounds like the end of a show, with the credits rolling. FOUR

Today's song is Sherry She Needs Me.

I'm giving Sherry 5 stars. Years ago I got a bootleg LP called The New Album which had Sherry on it. Although the quality was rough I loved it and found it to be a fascinating track. I preferred it over the slick and polished She Says That She Needs Me from Imagination (although I like that one, too...just not as much). When Made In California came out the first track I listened to (over and over) was Sherry. "Sherry don't hate her guts..." always cracks me up   Wonderful stuff. Would've been great on the Love You album, which by the way was a jolly good time discussing these past 2 weeks. Let's do it again sometime  

We still have an FYE in Attleboro MA. I never shop there though. Such minimal variety and way more focused on silly pop culture items rather than music. Bleh.

Today we discuss the album Love You as a whole.

I know lots of fans dislike it for different reasons such as Brian's rough voice, the bizarre songs and their subject matter, the production and synthy instruments and whatever else... I cherish this album for those reasons. I'll Bet He's Nice and The Night Was So Young are my two favorite moments on the album, and I love how rockin' Side One is. Pretty much the only thing I never cared for from this album is Ding Dang. Years ago I didn't care for LPOHT and IWPYU but those songs have since grown on me.  I find it to be a fascinating album. Almost a 5, but I gave it 4.

Ok so they sang Cease To Exist/Never Learn Not To Love and Look At Your Game Girl I'm assuming. Nobody was singing 409 or Sweet Child O' Mine  Some people not in the know would get the wrong impression.

Today's song is Love Is A Woman.

Brian's vocals are rough but I think it enhances the song. I dig Al's vocals on the counting bridge. Mike sounds smooth. It's a great closing number. FIVE
