Today's song is TM Song.
When I was a kid I had the R&RM/TM 45 and I definitely played TM Song way more often than R&RM, probably because I found it interestingly bizarre. Al does sound a little bit embarrassed to be singing it. The backing track is kinda neat. The staged fight is better than the one on Cassius vs Sonny. I kinda dig it. THREE

Today's song is Funky Pretty.
Busy sounding (not in a bad way) and loaded with great melodies and vocals going in every direction. I especially like the live version from In Concert. The lyrics hardly make any sense but that doesn't usually matter to me. Cool to hear Brian playing drums. I'm giving it FIVE

Today's song is California.
Very fun and bouncy tune. It swings along nicely. Mike Love's lead is great. I think it was a great addition to the set list during the 70s. I especially like how they opened with the song in 1977 (I have a boot video of a 1977 show they did in Largo where they open with it...sounds great). I'm giving this song 5 stars!

Today we'll discuss the whole CATP album.
I gave it 3. I absolutely love All This Is That (at the "5" level). You Need A Mess Of Help and Marcella are good. But much of the remainder of this album is a snooze-fest. Packaging it with Pet Sounds was probably a bad idea (unfavorable comparison by most people I'm sure).

Your ratings for All This Is That: 5...6 votes
Well done! 2Mr. Garneau: who's Chew Bacca in your ava? "Cuddle Up" - boring. Melody banal, chords too. Dislike the dreamy melancholic atmosphere in songs. 1. The ava is a Star Wars Chewbacca/Black Sabbath 'Vinyl Record' Mash Up poster I found recently. I like the way it looks, pretty neat. It's supposed to look like Black Sabbath Vol.4 album.

I found out right before I left for work that day. My friend Ron called to give me the bad news. He had no idea what he was about to say to me was going to screw with my head for the whole time I was at work. "Hey one of the Beach Boys died," he said to me. "Yeah Dennis died back in '83", I said. "No one of his brothers died today, not Brian." (my friend didn't know alot about the group...but he knew I was a huge fan and had to call me. He heard the news on our local oldies station B101.5). I didn't know Carl was sick and I was so shocked and bummed out. I really admired Carl. I was 12 when I first saw the American Band video back in the 80s and I thought he was the coolest and most down to earth member of the band. I was lucky enough to see one Carl Wilson BBs concert back in 1992 and it was Carl who I was the most excited to see and hear (the band did an amazing show that night, everyone sounded great, but Carl sounded the greatest). Sad day in music. What an amazing human being and what an incredible talent he was.

How do you rate A Day In The Life of A Tree? 5. I'm glad Al made history to be in this song, even if it's cameo. Btw, Van Dyke's bizarre voice fits as well. It isn't GDP singing. It's Jack Rieley. I think she's referring to the coda which Van Dyke sings on.

I'm from Rhode Island so Narragansett is the place to go surfing around here. I have a few friends who are actual surfers but they're mostly into punk rock. As for me, I can't surf and I have no desire to, and I'm the one who listens to surf rock and the BBs, lol... I don't think too many genuine surfers got into the sport thanks to the Beach Boys. But l'd be curious to see what others have to say.

Hm, you edited post to change "5" to "five"? What's the difference? Because originally it read "a damned fine one" which looked to me that I was voting "ONE". So I removed the number "5" from my comments (which originally I had placed above my typed remarks) and ended my remarks with the word "FIVE" instead because I liked the way it looked better. I thought it looked a bit confusing the first time around. Maybe a bit of OCD, I dunno. But that's my reason. Got it? Good....
