This is my favorite touring version of the BBs since Carl passed and Al left.  By a lot.  Scott Totten doesn't get enough credit and the additions of Jeff F and Brian Eichenberger have raised the bar considerably for future touring iterations of The Beach Boys or "The Beach Boys" - however you look at it.
52  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Where did that website with Beach Boys vocal charts go? on: May 15, 2016, 03:36:58 PM
Sadly, Alan Deane, the guy who made all the charts, died a few years back and the site URL lapsed.  I have some saved, and yeah some are on the way back archive... Are you looking for something in particular?

Too bad She Knows Me Too Well was left off this release.  Maybe because Brian E was on lead?  Too bad.  Was one of the highlights of the show and one of the best leads by any non Beach Boy I've heard live.
54  Smiley Smile Stuff / The Beach Boys Media / Re: Mike Love, Not War - Unleash the Love! songs are NOW available to listen!! on: February 06, 2016, 09:55:49 AM
I'm not sure why is says Brian Is Back is from 2007.  This is the exact version I had on a boot around 2003.

One of my most treasured recordings.  Everything from this part of 1993 was great by the boys.  Pretty sure that's Al singing Mike's bass part at the end of Surfer Girl.

excitedly awaits uploading of these videos...

Who else thinks Brian would prefer this version?

Doesn't beg for a teleprompter-- could just write "Fun x3" and "hamburger stand" on one's hand.
58  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Made in California Disc 4 on: August 03, 2015, 04:48:18 PM
Carl Wilson on "Sail On Sailor."  The end.  No offense to Blondie, who sings the hell out of it as well.
59  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Differences to live song versions compared to studio versions - who wrote what? on: August 03, 2015, 04:47:08 PM
In '87, Do It Again would occasionally be in the set.  When it made its way in, just before the final verse, there was a cool double falsetto (with the higher of the two voices up in the stratosphere) for a "whoa-oo-oh  ohhh" before "well i've been thinkin' bout..."  I believe it was Jeff Foskett and Billy Hinsche singing these two parts. Was a fun little tag.  I assume it left when Jeff and Billy left. I looked on youtube for an example, but can't find the song from that era...  I have it on some audio recordings.
60  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Unleash The Love - Mike Love 2005 album on: July 28, 2015, 03:25:27 PM
I know that Mike's son Christian sang on it.  He sounds particularly good on "Brian's Back."  I know nothing else about the album except the origin of the boots in circulation of it.

Yes Darian first verse, Scott on second verse.  With Al chiming in on some harmonies.

I just rediscovered this show on youtube and was wondering the same thing.  Might be some of my favorite youtube clips of Brian and Co.

Does anyone have the full show?  Clearly it was recorded *somewhere* though I suspect maybe only a portion (which has found its way to youtube) was actually broadcast.  I love all of the official BW released

Here is one of 6 (which you can find in the Up Next column). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XM8XebyaN8   Is that Scott quietly doubling Brian during the first verse?
63  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Carol Kaye is at It again on: July 16, 2015, 09:51:34 AM
Does anyone know when the Carol Kaye biopic "Love & Mercy" comes out on home video?
64  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Back Home (Made in California version) on: July 16, 2015, 09:48:08 AM
Great stuff, thank you all.

Can anyone direct me to hearing Bob Norberg singing on other tracks? Youtube? itunes store?  Very curious to hear him as one poster mentioned he sounded very similar to Brian in that era.

Maybe this is the place to ask: Back Home off the Made In California Box Set (not the 1970 version)-- is that just Brian on all the background vocals?  I know he is singing the lead and the high part, but wonder if the rest is him as well.
67  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Back Home (Made in California version) on: July 14, 2015, 11:26:41 AM
Can anyone make out the voices singing the backgrounds?  In addition to the lead vocal, sounds to me like Brian is singing the high part and maybe all the others?  I'm talking about the version of Back Home on the Made In California CD set Disc 1 Track 15 (Not the 1970 Version also on set and not the 15 Big Ones version).  SO many versions of this song!

Thanks!

That is really too bad.  I saved some of these a while ago, I will see if I can dig them up.

Unsure how many people know the story behind the site, but the man who transcribed all of these wonderful vocal charts, Alan Deane, was tragically struck and killed by a motorist while on his bicycle in Los Angeles a few years ago.  I met him once-- I gave him a ride to a bus station while we talked about Beach Boys music.  When we got there, we sat in the car for another 30 minutes finishing our conversation.

Thanks, Rocker.  I've heard some of the other recordings from that tour.  I hope this particular show surfaces someday.

Anyone?
71  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Concertvault.com - Legal Beach Boys concert downloads on: June 26, 2015, 10:15:27 AM
Second that.  BRI are you listening?  Lots of fans would pay for soundboard archival shows!
72  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Concertvault.com - Legal Beach Boys concert downloads on: June 24, 2015, 11:59:40 AM
Are these soundboard recordings?

People who are allowed to change melodies of songs written by Brian Wilson while performing live if they so desire: Brian Wilson.
People who shouldn't be allowed to change melodies of songs written by Brian Wilson while performing live if they so desire: Everyone else (ahem Sebu).
