Saw BB's in a baseball staduim in New Hampshire many years ago. The stage was against the outfield wall and Mike turned around and looked at the forest in the back of the stage and mused "I think we've played here before....or was that in Maine? Ah well, all Pine trees look alike".

Remaining Beach Boy Bruce Johnston wouldn’t comment on any reunion with his former mates, telling The Post’s John Aidan Byrne in Spain, “I need to think, I can’t talk right now.”
Why does this article exist?...
Lol...I envision Bruce walking past the reporter giving him a dismissive wave like he would some ebay autograph collector as he says that line

have at it: Mike: "Ya see Bill, we may be getting on in age but we still know how to have a good time after the show, if you follow" O'Reilly: "I see" Mike: "Now we got quite a scene going on backstage here. If you want in, I'll arrange it, but you gotta wear an animal mask". O'Reilly: "I want in" Mike: "Somebody get O'Reilly the giraffe mask!"

For what it's worth I stopped seeing the "Beach Boys" after Carl's death as well, on principle. To me it wasn't the Beach Boys with just M&B, and I wasn't going to have any part in it. And you know what, despite my position, Mike kept touring year after year. I did see Brian solo during these years btw. Then came C50, my first BB's shows in 17 years and obviously they were amazing, then the fallout after. It got me thinking, If I wait another 17 years these guiys will all be dead. Am I going to change Mike's mind of touring as the BB's by not going? Would I have a problem if he called it Mike Love of the BB's? No. Then I got to thinking, why deprive myself of seeing and hearing my favorite music because of what they are billed as. I went and saw M&B last year and thought they were great, and I'm going to see them again next month. And if Al comes along I'll see him, or Dave, or Brian, or Blondie too. I'm gonna see them as much as I can cause I love them all and love the music and I don't think there will be another reunion so I aint sitting on the sidelines waiting.

Does anybody really think both Brian and Al were fabricating the offers from promoters for more shows, and another album, etc.?
Then he got into a war of words with the band The Eagles by making a comment that upset them, about selling tickets for $5, which led to an angry reply from the Eagles' PR offices, and *then* led to Mike's publicist issuing a public apology to the Eagles. And...that apology included Mike sending "gift bags" to the managers of the band members as a token of apology. That statement was made by Mike at the Grammy Museum event, prior to the band playing the UK and within a day or few days after his press release that caused all the controversy was issued. So if anyone is pushing a theory that Al and Brian or whoever else were inventing phony tour/show offers or anything of the sort, they're crazy...because Mike himself got the offers and spoke to those offers specifically at the Grammy event. There is more, of course. I'm still curious what was in Mike's "gift bags" that were sent to the Eagles as a peace offering. Those might be the biggest mystery of the C50 aftermath... Backsage passes to "Klub Kokomo" and a USB with Shut Down and All Summer Long

"Y'know Gene, I've got a 'Love Gun' of my own..." "I don't really want to hear about it." "C'mon Gene. You've got 'Nothin' to Lose'." "Please stop." "That's it Gene. I'm 'Calling Dr. Love' right now." "Look can't you at least reference your own work?" "But that would be no 'Fun Fun Fun'." "I think we're done here." Reporter off camera: "Which of you gentlemen has sullied your bands legacy the most by exploiting it's brand"?

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Assuming they retire at age 75...

Does aynone think that Mike will ever retire? I think he'll rock till he drops. He must be enjoying himself don't you think? I'm surprised that Bruce hasn't grown tired of the road. He still produces albums, doesn't he? He'll be in the studio when all is done.
If Mike does retire (due to age and health?) I can see Al taking the lead for the Beach Boys. Al's voice is too good to stop anytime soon. I'd like to see a Al/David BB touring group someday.
I don't know but I think that Brian would be glad to retire. He's accomplished quite a bit with Smile nd his solo career. He can rest easy.
My question is who will get the Beach Boys name when everyone retires? David? The kids?
As long as Mike is healthy I beleive he will keep on going. He's constantly referencing Tony Benett and how he is still going strong well into his 80's and I gotta beleve that's Mike's goal as well. "Betcha boys we'll be doing it in our eighties"

Looking forward to seeing Mike & Bruce in Columbus OH this summer - my first time with this edition of the band. Opening act will be America.
The Beach Boys found a band with less original members than they have!?! America has two thirds of the original line up, and has since 1977. M&B has one third of real Beach Boys.

From a 2011 interview And then along comes Chuck Berry and Mike Love, and the creation of rock n roll, so to speak.
Mike reads later and nods in agreement..... "Mike Love's gotta be the greatest thing that's come along (Hum diddy waddy, hum diddy wadda) He made the guitar beats and wrote the all-time greatest song (Hum diddy waddy, hum diddy wadda) Well now do you remember all the guys that gave us rock and roll (Hum diddy waddy doo)"
